A surfer received a bad gash Wednesday when a 14-foot shark bit her leg in the waters off northern California and pulled her underwater, authorities said.
Megan Halavais, 20, was paddling into the water off Salmon Creek Beach in Sonoma County around 11 a.m. when the shark attacked her from behind.
Halavais, an experienced surfer, said she got away after she hit the shark on its tail, according to sheriff's Lt. Roger Rude.
Halavais, of Santa Rosa, was helped from the water by other surfers.
She was taken to a hospital with a bite that stretched from her thigh to her calf, Rude said. She was listed in good condition.
The beach has been the site of several shark attacks in recent years, Rude said.
Police believe the shark likely was a great white. They have closed the beach and warned surfers in nearby locations.

RedR1 10-20-2005, 09:48 AM yea we get that a lot around Daytona here in Florida. I see sharks off the shoreline at Huegenot Park all of the time when I go to the dunes to sit and relax.
BATMAN 10-20-2005, 09:57 AM Man Fagcisco Gay Area has the largest great whites in the world.
The South African and Australian ones are smaller but more agile.
FL (america's penis that's getting a washing from the storm) have smaller sharks like the bullshit shark).

2ndGen.Rocket 10-21-2005, 05:55 AM Big surprise, that's what the stupid asses get. Shit if someone told me to paddle that little piece of fiberglass out into some deep water that is infested with carnivorous fish that are 3 times my size, I'd tell them to fuck themselves.
$100T2 10-21-2005, 09:30 AM I bought a Great White Shark DVD called "Air Jaws" for my son, because he likes sharks... Watching them hunting seals is crazy... Seeing 18 feet of shark come flying out of the water is just nuts.

jimlab 10-21-2005, 10:43 PM Saw it on either discovery channel or animal planet a year ago.Don't believe everything you see on the Discovery channel. Jacques fucking Cousteau's special on New Zealand said that the salt water crocodile was basically harmless to man, because the 5-foot specimen his divers were fucking around with didn't eat them whole...
The largest Great White ever caught was taken off Cuba in 1945, a long way from San Francisco. :)
2ndGen.Rocket 10-21-2005, 10:44 PM I don't know, I actually did hear the same shit Batman's talking about on National Geographic one time.
