hurleyboi514 04-11-2002, 12:13 PM this summer should bring in some pretty good cash so ill have money for the car!! what should i do 1st? engine or suspension and brakes? im really pretty happy with my current suspension (SE with sport suspension package) but my brakes suck. and who wouldnt want Teins? but, what about some power? 155 hp is a bit under whelming... so what do you suggest? and as for engine mods, i dunno if i want to turbo the KA (should be cheaper, Ka parts are easy to get) or drop in an SR20 (built for turbo, much lighter, but parts will take a long time to get if something breaks). <sigh> at least i have time to make a decision... 04-11-2002, 01:06 PM I think you hate me. First you make my car start smoking terribly and now you try to kill me. Every single lug you put on was loose and the wheels were about to fall off when I checked to see what the terrible thudding sound was today! Stegall 04-11-2002, 03:33 PM do your self a favor, and find a wrecked 300zx TT and buy the front brake callipers off it. They are 4 piston, and bolt directly on to the 240, for a incredible increase in braking performance. I plan on doing the same 97240sx 04-11-2002, 10:34 PM I have a 97 240sx and the first thing i did was add eibach pro kit springs and koni adj. shocks. The 240 already handles well but this made a tremendous impact on the handling aspects of the car. If you have the money i suggest adding coilovers instead of what i did. Either way i say go with the suspension, bc if you plan on adding a turbo or making it a lot faster a suspension is the best way to start out. streetported Rx7 04-11-2002, 10:54 PM sounds like ken is trying to kill people one by one.. we put sway bars ona friends 7 and he said he tightened them up and didnt....and it was upside down hurleyboi514 04-11-2002, 10:59 PM im not tryin to kill anyone i swear!! those bolts where as tight as could be when i put those wheels on... and as for the smoke, i cant explain it, youve got compression, your not burning coolant, yet your car smokes, i dont understand why.... and as for dustins sway bar, yeah, im a moron, but neither of you noticed either so there!! streetported Rx7 04-11-2002, 11:04 PM b/c i wasnt paying attention.. i was playing with my car bimmergirl 04-11-2002, 11:19 PM ken, sweetie, give it up...you know you had malicious intent streetported Rx7 04-11-2002, 11:38 PM yea give up.. face it .. youll never be a mechanic.. maybe you can a living working at bilo.. or walmart tire/lube express... i worked there.. it sucked Stegall 04-12-2002, 03:37 PM ah, come now dont be so harsh. And u say Chris' car smokes, u talking bout the 7? Ur brakes suck, well, I guess that answers ur question on what to do first. hurleyboi514 04-16-2002, 01:29 PM yea, im gonna order some KVR pads (street/track pads). they are $40 a set, so ill need a front and rear. thats $80. then, if my rotors are turnable, ill just turn them, but if they arent i'll just get some blank brembo's. they are $30 a piece on Nopi.com. then, flush and refill the fluid with something good. what kind of fluid should i get? yea, thats what im gonna do... Z-28 For You 04-16-2002, 01:40 PM Just to let you know, a good suspension can make you feel like you gained 50 to 75 horsepower. If everything I had was on 155 h.p. i would go with suspension, because if you can make more power but cant put it to the ground, there is no point in having that extra power. You should know that if you are true to the racing scene....Go with the suspension. hurleyboi514 04-16-2002, 05:14 PM thats not always true man. if i had an Sr20 in there, trust me, you would KNOW theres a difference!! rxtasy 04-16-2002, 11:28 PM Vented rotors would help tremendously, they let the gases excape the build up between the pads and rotor during constant hard braking. Get them in a larger dia. also. Then do the suspension, larger dia. sway bar, poly bushings and definately some performance shocks and struts, maybe a little stiffer springs. |
