I'm stuck between these three. I'm going into LE and should be starting the academy in January. I have talked with a few deputies and officers, and it's still a toss up. Most responses end with "get whatever you are most comfortable with" but each gun feels, fits, and shoots great. I have read great reviews for both the P226R DAK and P229R DAK, the P226R being favored by LE and the P229R is standard for military and DoHS. The SP2022 is being used militaries, governments, and LE agencies around the world, but I have heard of a major flaw. The concern is that the takedown lever can be moved out of place making the slide inoperable, not good. As far as I know this has not been confirmed nor denied, but seeing how many units have been sold around the world and not hearing of any recall makes it seem false.

So... does anyone own one of these models? Any feedback would be great!

I dont own any of these, but have more experience with the 226. It is reliable, rugged, and accurate. I prefer a lighter trigger pull, but thats just my personal preference. I also prefer DA/SA guns over DAO, again just a personal thing. All in all, if it feels comfortable shooting it, the 226 is a great weapon. you really cant go wrong with it. Also, you may consider getting a P226 SAS for a backup, if you are looking for an autoloader for a backup--compact version of the 226 with no edges to snag on anything. It's getting rave reviews and has the reliability of the 226 built-in. I was actually considering a smaller caliber backup for size until the SAS came out, now I might just pick one up for a concealer.

The compacts are nice but they are just about the same size as the "full version" pistols. I talked to a buddy of mine who has owned SIGs for years, he said the days of the SIG Pros are numbered and that the SP2022 is equal in performance as the P226 and P229. As for DA/SA or DAO, I like DAO and having a 6.5lb pull is nice, as compared to 10lb/4.5lb.

So down to the P226R DAK and the P229R DAK.
