He has H/R springs on his car, but horrific camber problems. *On the high way, he is jsut barely able to pull on me. *But his car is an auto. *Off the line I beat it. 30-70 he pulls then were close to dead even. *Handleing I think I have him. If he could work out his camber issues then his car would be a real threat. *By no means am I saying his car dosn't handel, but it has absoutly terrible understeer ( we found that out last year around a extreme hair pin *- dont ask what appened. It wasnt pretty ) but then his car has the power and torque out of the turns i cant match with a 4 banger. *Your mods are a bit more extensive then his, and your car is a 5 speed. *Considering what is done to your car, and assuming it all works well together on an already capable platform, i think it would be safe to say, even a driver not up to par with the car, could out run my car with a great driver in it. *I guess that is till he lost it * <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> * If i ever get done to my car what I really want, then it'll be a entirely diffrent story. *I'm just waiting till this summer, when that silvia conversion will be with in my grasp. *For now I'll just continue my 30+ hours a week at the resturant and put up with civics nipping at my heels. * *<img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> ( And in Ben's case, me trying to keep up with them ) HighTachPrez 04-13-2002, 06:04 PM </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Stegall @ April 13 2002,14:59)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">my friend Clay has H/R springs on his car, but horrific camber problems.</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'> Musta been a while since you've talked to Clay or seen his car, his camber has been fixed for quite a while now. *Looks a lot less ghetto <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> *Clay?? *Ghetto?? lol, noooooooo Ben Howard 04-13-2002, 06:11 PM I might be in for this race. Stop treating other people like theyre stupid. Stegall 04-14-2002, 08:17 AM Maybe you havn't seen it in a while clint... The rear wheels have ( rough estimate ) 4 degrees+ negative camber. *The fronts go posotive when you step on it. maybe im jsut blind... Also punter, his car is quick, jsut once it gets out of the hole. It leaves the line like a sack of bricks. Once it gets up in the rpms tho, its moves. But like I said, on the interstate, he cant leave me. Maybe its weak. I know its around 100k miles. Then maybe again my cars jsut got good top end. I know for a fact, i have better top end than a mustang. My 240 pulls alot harder then my stang ever did. Chris can vouch for the the 240 having supriseing top end. I beleive chris' exact words were " this thing feels like it will barely get out of its own way, but it really hauls ass in the top end " Uglymexican19 04-14-2002, 10:26 AM how did this whole topic get out of hand liek that, all i said was for allend to race me, just to see how fast his car is!!! I mean even a half a second is huge in 0-60 times and there's just no way to get that accurate timing it yourself. 97240sx 04-14-2002, 05:36 PM I have raced Punters M3 from 0-60 and on the interstate. I have many mods to my 240 and i got left in the dust. The 240sx is slow out of the hole it is also slow once it gets going. I mean it is in no way a fast car and it is no where near as fast as any M3. Let me know your 0-60 times. The stock 240sx does 0-60 in the manual in 8.4. An e36 M3 in auto is good for 0-60 in 6.1 and manual in 5.5. So either way theres no way a 240 with minor mods could handle this. HighTachPrez 04-14-2002, 07:06 PM Man what was I thinking... I dont know my ass from a hole in the ground. Yall are right about Clay's camber. The rear is really bad. That would explain why his tires are completely bald on the inside. We all 4 need to get together, and compare clay and punters ride, mine and yours, then the 240s against the m's. I'm not exagerating about him barely pulling on me either. I know ya'll are probably doubting it, but his car really isnt that fast. My friends 1980 280zx 5 speed almsot kept up with it on the interstate. * My mustang I had would absoutly kick his ass. We raced several times. I mean there was no compotition off the line. *How ever on the high way, my stang was defenseless. *It had absoutly zero top end. *I'll even go as far to say that the 240 would walk away from it at any thing above 90. *how ever, i still ran mid to low 9s at the strip. *that is that stinking amercian engineering for ya. *0-60 is killer. 80-140 is s###. *I wish I could have a car that handled as well as my 240, was as fast as my stang off the line, and had the top end of a m3. * <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> * THAT, would be nice! Hightach Tibby 04-15-2002, 11:23 AM tsk tsk, racing isn't all about straight lines...it's about driver skill. What's the point of going in a straight line? It takes the danger element out. anyone that can shift fast, and has power mods can take it down the drag strip, but can they take that same car to the mountains, and race up/down it? and w/o killing themselves or someone else. Spice it up, throw something new into the mix. Ben Howard 04-15-2002, 12:28 PM I figured yall were racing from a roll in a straight line or something. Sorry for butting in. In the next few months ill more than accept the challenge in the curves or basically anywhere possible. I am trying to set my car up with a ton more of suspension parts so not only will i be a nightmare in the straights but i will stick like tar in the turns. I want the hatchcrap to be versitile. <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> Stegall 04-15-2002, 02:41 PM I edited the post Clint. " hmmm Punter 04-15-2002, 02:50 PM Racing around curves is good fun and all but when its done on public roads then it becomes a test of who is willing to drive like the biggest idiot rather than who has the most driving skill. I'm not going to hit 100 in a 55 or take blind turns halfway on the wrong side of the road and would therefore lose to someone who was willing to do so, that wouldn't prove anything about who is a better drive just who gives the least of a crap about possibily killing someone else driving on the road. I mean someone even said "but can they take that same car to the mountains, and race up/down it? and w/o killing themselves or someone else". Hightach Tibby 04-15-2002, 03:22 PM yea, i said it...what's your point? The driving scene here isnt' that great...look at japan! Where do they drive?!? alright then...mountains. I don't even understand the whole point about people in japan driving on mountains so I'll just leave that alone.......but as for rally races, those don't take place on public roads, which is my whole point. Of course it takes skill to race up and down a mountain, and rally drivers are VERY skilled drivers, but doing it on a public road where the whole point is "to see if you can do it without killing someone else" is just stupid. My original point was that doing it on a public road doesn't reveal who is really the most skilled driver, it just shows who is willing to drive like the biggest idiot. Someone thinking they won a race just because they were the only one willing to triple the speed limit and cut into other lanes around blind corners is no different than the idiots who get blown away by 10 car lengths to 60 and then 15 seconds later come flying by doing 100 and think they won.
