I've worked a couple of 8-5's in the public and private sector, and I have to say that it is a bit unfair that smokers get tons of breaks. I mean they take an 1 hour lunch, and 4 15 minute smoke breaks. So basically 2 hours of no work.

I'm gonna pretend to be a smoker and start taking breaks. Just stand outside where the smokers are and do nothing for 15 minutes.

Sorry for the rant, it's just that somebody in the next office does this everyday.

Eh, I think it's a fair trade....

Less work, less life to live....

I smoke when ever I want. In fact, everyone else at the office left to go to the gym.

thats what we do.

The smokers vanish, and the rest of us non-smokers wander out as well, and stand over somewhere else away from the 2nd hand smoke bullshit.

THe boss gets way pissy, but we just tell him "If they get breaks, we get em too. Don't like it, tell them to stop."

It's not like you cant take little breaks too ya know.

Just find somthing to do. Go out in the hallway and pick your nose for 10 minuts every hour. Or go to the bathroom and jack off 6-8 times a day. It's not like we smokers have it very "easy" these days...............

seriously though, 50% of my job is out in the field inspecting, 40% of my job is sitting behind a computer writing reports and doing AutoCAD, 10% of my job is in the shop rebuilding high pressure eqiupment for oilfield service companies.

I have 20 people under me. Out of the 20, 11 are smokers. When the 9 people go out for smoke breaks every 4 hour block. I noticed all the smokers tend to head out to the curb, about 55 yards from the building entrance (I work in the healthcare industry, and all smokers have to leave company property before they light up, for obvious reason). Anyways, the non-smokers get some time as well, which I call "discretionary time." If for some reason, the smokers in your work place are getting additional time that you don't get, why not bring it up to someone?

I'd be shocked to hear someone in management say "tough shit" as opposed to either bundling their smoke time in their allocated break times, or giving you some additional time to do menial tasks.

Smoking breaks are BS and another reason to make the people more unproductive.

Do it like Meddle, whenever u want.
