$100T2 03-24-2009, 08:45 AM I went to the gun shop on Sunday night and bought a .22 semi-automatic rifle with a scope. I pick it up this Sunday after that stupid 7 day waiting period. In the meantime, Mayhem is getting his exercise chasing that fox through the woods everyday to keep it away from the chickens. But next Monday morning: I'll be on the deck waiting for that fucker, and it's gonna be boom headshot! wonner 03-24-2009, 10:57 AM I'm calling PETA. $100T2 03-24-2009, 12:51 PM poor fox just wants some food....I think you should adopt him :) You know, I really don't want to have to kill him, but he can't keep on eating the chickens. Can't we all just get along??? Steel 03-24-2009, 01:40 PM what brand and model is it? BATMAN 03-24-2009, 02:23 PM the fox? BATMAN 03-24-2009, 02:33 PM u like the red fox cuz u have a red car....... $100T2 03-24-2009, 03:26 PM Like I said on the other thread, get a live trap, catch him, and relocate him. Animal activists do it all time. The red fox is not a common species, I can't promote killing them because of a few chickens. Trapping and relocating is illegal here. I'm not going to pay a fine for that shit. Tofuball 03-24-2009, 03:33 PM My dad uses a 410 shotgun for critter control. He has a squirrel that eats his house. It is his nemesis. Steel 03-24-2009, 03:58 PM No, the brand and model of the rifle, dorks. Remington? Marlin? Ruger? Alex-7 03-24-2009, 06:39 PM Is shooting it even legal? I've never heard of fines for live trapping.... I see where you're coming from, but its a shame on a critter like that. You'd better at least skin/stuff it! $100T2 03-24-2009, 08:37 PM Is shooting it even legal? I've never heard of fines for live trapping.... I see where you're coming from, but its a shame on a critter like that. You'd better at least skin/stuff it! Yep, shooting it is legal. I checked with the police, and they said, "Kill that son of a bitch." Trapping/relocating is illegal due to the threat of rabies. Shooting from my yard is illegal, except to defend livestock, like my situation. Other than that, to practice or shoot for fun, I just need to go in the back woods at least 500 feet from any dwellings. $100T2 03-24-2009, 08:48 PM It's this: http://www.savagearms.com/64fvxp.htm BATMAN 03-25-2009, 09:47 AM Dang, that looks like the one my dad bought back in the early 70's. Except wood look. I thought they discontinued it. Why not by the 10/22 Ruger? U should see all of the aftermarket stuff that they make for it. Steel 03-25-2009, 02:30 PM Yeah, in order to get a 10/22 to shoot as well as other rifles out of the box, you HAVE t spend $300 on upgrades. BATMAN 03-25-2009, 02:39 PM that's not bad at all for the amount of sex appeal that it gives...... BATMAN 03-25-2009, 02:43 PM Ruger 10/22 kits: http://www.flashbangfirearms.com/uploaded_images/Ruger-10-22-pic-2-795425.jpg http://www.pisnnapalm.com/pics/ruger/DSC00392.JPG http://www.bwfirearms.com/GunPics/Ruger%20Dual%20Mount3.JPG http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/354l.jpg http://www.mountsplus.com/images-product/MZplus.jpg $100T2 03-25-2009, 09:11 PM I don't need a gun with "sex appeal", and from the reviews I've read on the gun I bought, it's really accurate, and that's about all I need it for. $100T2 03-28-2009, 06:51 PM Woot, I get to pick it up tomorrow morning. I stopped by today, and he was just getting ready to mount the scope and get it bore sighted. I originally bought a wood stock, but I changed up and got a black one. Too bad it's going to rain all day tomorrow so I can't go out and play with it. :( Next up, I'm going to get a .22 pistol to go with it. The guy at the shop said, "Everyone is trying to get in on guns before the Obama plan kicks in and nobody is allowed to buy one." Steel 03-28-2009, 10:05 PM Which pistol? Ruger mk3? I'd stay away from the walther p22. they are balls of suck. $100T2 03-29-2009, 09:31 AM Not sure. Going to try to find something that shoots .22LR so I can use the same ammo in both guns. $100T2 03-29-2009, 11:18 AM Well, I got myself my weapon. It's nice! I have to clean it, to get rid of the manufacturing oil and all that, but after that, it's good to go. I bought 500 rounds of .22LR, so we'll get lots of practice in. :D $100T2 03-29-2009, 02:05 PM Here's my new toy, and here's the results of my first three shots from about 30 yards. Not bad for not shooting a "real" gun in 25 years. Steel 03-29-2009, 02:05 PM Well, I got myself my weapon. It's nice! I have to clean it, to get rid of the manufacturing oil and all that, but after that, it's good to go. I bought 500 rounds of .22LR, so we'll get lots of practice in. :D The Federal 550 round pack? Those are pretty decent rounds, but no whizbangs by any means. Good to practice on. As with anything the more you spend the better the rounds are. For some more accuracy and consistency, pick up a box of CCI minimags, and CCI stingers. Those things are like magic out of my rifle, while the federals are merely ok. Oh and for a .22 pistol, like i said, stay away from the walther P22. Theres a few .22 wheelguns out there that are damn accurate, and most of them are 10 shots. $100T2 03-29-2009, 02:19 PM No, it's called "Blazer Munition". It was $24 for 500 rounds. Good enough. It says the bullet can go 1.5 miles, is that true? I returned the air rifle to Wally World where I bought it, but since I have a 4000 pack of BBs, I bought a little CO2 powered 17 shot semi-automatic BB pistol and a box of 25 CO2 cartridges. Set up a couple soda cans and my wife and I went out and knocked 'em down... She likes the CO2 powered pistol a lot better than the pump airgun. $100T2 03-29-2009, 02:50 PM Ruger 10/22 kits: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/354l.jpg The place where I bought my rifle has one of these on display. Steel 03-29-2009, 03:18 PM Oh, that stuff is ok too. and yeah, 1.5 miles... if you shoot it up into the air. Just imagine how far a .30-06 could go if you fired it up into the air. $100T2 03-29-2009, 05:01 PM Well I tell ya, this thing is a fucking laser thus far. I can't imagine needing anything else for it than what I have now. The scope is a 4x, and that seems to be more than enough, and the bore sighting seems to be dead on. Hopefully Tuesday I can go out and get it fine tuned in, but you saw what I did to the Dr. Pepper can. How often should I clean it? I cleaned it today when I brought it home, first with the copper brush, then with the wipes. I used Hoppe's No. 9 solvent, then ran some wipes through it dry afterwards. I also bought a little bottle of oil, because George at the gun shop said to oil the outside of the barrel every now and then, but to leave the inside of the barrel alone. He also said not to fuck with the bolt, it is pretty much maintenance free. Steel 03-29-2009, 08:14 PM Is it a semi? And what's your groupings? 1revnrex 03-29-2009, 08:16 PM Hopps is good for barrel fouling. I usually clean my weapons with CLP Break Free. As far as 22s go I never really cleaned mine too much but Im a freak with my other guns. Also modern ammo doesnt have corrosive salts in the primers anymore so cleaning your weapon everytime you shoot it is more for people who have nothing better to do. My Glock is filthy and is a tack driver still, probably havent cleaned it in a year. $100T2 03-29-2009, 09:45 PM Is it a semi? And what's your groupings? Yep, it's a semi. I have to find a clear 100 yard spot to set up the targets I bought today to really dial everything in and run some rounds through it. BackyardSog 03-30-2009, 01:11 PM Here's my new toy, and here's the results of my first three shots from about 30 yards. Not bad for not shooting a "real" gun in 25 years. Nice. My sheriff friend got one of those from Big5 not to long ago and they are a nice piece. You cant beat it for the price.:bigthumb: Steel 03-30-2009, 01:27 PM That's cool. Im glad it's working out for you. My remingtom 597 is being very weird. It's inconsistant. Some days it will shoot like a frickin laser, im talking a ragged hole at 50yd, other days it will look more like a shotgun pattern than a rifle grouping! Though it seems like it's gotten better since i dropped it on the concrete... $100T2 03-30-2009, 10:40 PM That motherfucking fox must have been prowling around tonight, because Mayhem went nuts and tore off into the woods. Tomorrow morning, rifle will be locked and loaded, and that fucker is dead if it shows it's face. $100T2 04-06-2009, 09:22 PM I think the fox is waiting for reinforcements... We haven't seen it in a week and a half. wotnartd 04-07-2009, 12:28 PM Bait it. Tofuball 04-07-2009, 02:09 PM You haven't seen the fox around? Good job, sounds like you damaged consumer confidence in him and his products - his economy is reeling, now is the time to strike! You gotta take the fight to him, soldier, nuke his home, take out that forest - if those trees aren't for us they are against us and everything we believe in. Good luck. wotnartd 04-07-2009, 02:22 PM You haven't seen the fox around? Good luck. and Godspeed. $100T2 04-07-2009, 09:49 PM I hope that would be funny if I was sober, because I'm laughing my ass off now with Sailor Jerry. MattG 04-08-2009, 11:57 AM He knows you just spent all that money on the gun, and he is back in the woods laughing!! $100T2 04-11-2009, 12:11 PM Probably. |
