and I want to mount them in one of two places... Either where the storage bins were, but firing down towards the floor, or in the very back of the hatch in front of the taillights. I want a "stealthy" system where it won't be noticeable outside the car. What do you guys think would sound better?

I'm not familiar with the fb's trunk layout, but face them towards the rear glass.

If you're familiar with my sig, you can see that i'm an Audio buff, and just to let you know, i'm the king round these parts when it comes to teh boom ;)

Those are two 10"s you see below, along with 1000w of power for each of my babies. It's enough to keep you from seeing straight at maximum volume.

I don't want them facing the hatch. I don't want them exposed at all in any way, shape or form.

good idea / what kind of subs? i think there's too much air space in there 4 2 10's....try to make a division and smaller compartments 4 each sub w/foam or fiber glass/wood......shoulnt be that hard and i'm pretty sure it'll sound good! Just make sure everything is tight to avoid rattles
:edit: compartment bins

You could create a false floor enclosure, port it, and not have anything showing at all. This would take a bit of work, and i'm not exactly sure how much space you're working with. I've never seen the trunk of an fb before, believe it or not.

I bought a pair of Kenwood subs and a Kenwood amp that Bestbuy was running a special on. I'm not looking to pound people into oblivion, I just want something that will sound great in the car.

Get grille cloth that matches your interior color and mount them in the back, that's what I plan to do with my car.

Partsexpress.com is a good source.

With actual cloth instead of metal waffles I figure most people won't even be able to tell that they're there until I turn them on.

yeah just mount them there/ one thing tho! i just checked my 1st gen ,and i dont think you can built a boad to mount subs over the bins. the opening is too small 4 a 10 inch sub/ youll probably have to pull the whole compartments out and build a box there.it doesnt look that hard(unless you want to cut the holes bigger) IF you choose to cut the hole bigger and build a board ,make sure to thight everything down and seal holes in the inside of the compartments w/expanding foam/etc.and turn the frequency on teh amp as low as possible B/C its big ass enclosure 4 two 10's (too much air space 4 the subs).........

Which amp did you buy? If they sold you two single 4 ohm subs, which i'm pretty sure they did, they may have dicked you on the amp, unless you bought a mono amp.

If you have a stereo amp, it'll be 4 ohm bridged, meaning, you would have to run each sub on a single channel, only getting about half of the total potential power of the amp.

Anyway, if I were you, i'd go with a single sub, create a false floor and the sub wouldn't be very visible at all.

JP is the one other person with some bump in da trunk. We've bumped heads, but we've learned to live with each other 'round these parts.

Different strokes for different folks.

Well, I threw the two 10s in the prefab box that came with the package, just to try them out. I put them in the trunk of my Audi (which is already wired for an amp and all that...) Holy shit, it's loud. I mean, it's fucking loud. I was worried that I wouldn't really be able to hear it much through the 4 inch thick leather seats, but my girlfriend said she could feel it inside the house. I had a single Earthquake 10" with an Earthquake amp before that, and these are by far louder... Of course, the box for my Earthquake sub was just slapped together so I could have some bass... I think I will put the Earthquake 10 out in the FB and see how it sounds... Until I get my sub and amp from TurboSE, then we'll be all set and the Earthquake stuff can find a home in my girlfriends Blazer. She'll be bumpin' Phantom of the Opera and Josh Groban. Represent!!!
