Hey, I love that steering wheel. $100T2 10-21-2005, 07:43 PM Looks good, but it's still going to be slow. Where's the t2 swap? That's what winter is for. $100T2 10-21-2005, 07:46 PM Excuse me stewardess, I speak jive: Where did you get the gauge faces, because I want one too. I like the way it looks, just kinda blends in with everything. There is a guy in the first gen section on the other forum that makes them and sells them. One of the gauges usually has a rotor printed on it, but I wanted mine plain. streetrx7 10-21-2005, 10:55 PM How much did he charge you for them. And what forum is he on and his user name I would appreciate your help. $100T2 10-22-2005, 10:33 PM scotthrbacek on the rx7club site. Manntis 10-31-2005, 11:32 PM nice work! I recommend 3M high-temp adhesive. $100T2 11-01-2005, 07:30 AM nice work! I recommend 3M high-temp adhesive. I used that, and I also used a hot glue gun, which has been awesome. Manntis 11-17-2005, 01:11 AM Gotta watch the hot glue. Think about it - heat softens the glue stick so you can apply the soft glue to whatever you want to bond. One hot summer day you leave your windows up, and your interior temps start to climb... that glue softens right up again and, if the fabric has any tension on it whatsoever, or is affected by gravity, it lets go. $100T2 11-17-2005, 09:04 AM Gotta watch the hot glue. The hot glue gun works at about 170 degrees. I don't think the interior of the car will get hot enough to melt the glue sticks. Manntis 11-19-2005, 01:24 AM It can and will. On my 1st RX-7 (an 83 GSL) I made the mistake of using hot glue. A few days into a heat wave, all the glue melted and I had to redo everything. Here's a chart showing interior temps from an experiment performed on a 'normal' hot day. Notice the BMW maxes out the sensors at >185 degrees on the dash (exposed to sun, as are consoles, door panels, etc.) http://www.randomuseless.info/318ti/temperature/audibmw.png From the Florida Solar Energy Center: "We observed interior temperatures in un-shaded stationary automobiles in Cape Canaveral, Florida to commonly reach l50ºF and dashboard temperatures to rise to nearly 200ºF". Note that's on a common day, not during a heat wave. The windows of a car act as a magnifier and the air is contained in a small, confined space. |
