I've been accepted to attend Army Officer Candidate School. I leave in about 60 days for Basic Training for 8 weeks, then off to OCS for another 12 weeks.

But wait, there's more! My fiance is going also. Gettin hitched at the end of the month. Can't Wait!

We did just finish up black history month.

Maybe if you watch Glory and the Tuskegee airmen enough times you automatically pull your hooptie up to the recruitment office.

Getting married and joining the army together is one of the strangest damn things I've ever heard.

It's not all bad, guys :) My father was also an officer in the Army, so this was almost inevitable.

My fiance and I were both in ROTC in HS and college, but we weren't enrolled in ROTC long enough to be commissioned via ROTC in college. Something we were gonna do anyway at one time, however we just put it off because we weren't sure at the time about it.

I guess you have to be into this sort of thing.

Good luck and make the best of it. Always remember that lives are at stake and fully depend on you being worth a shit. Keep that in the back of your head and you'll do just fine.

Being that I have a lot of insight of what we're going into, I know we'll be fine.

At least I'll be debt free in a few months. All of my student loans are about to be paid off. YAY!

Wait...

WAT?!?!?! Don't let her do it!!!!!

Don't you know?? Only TRASHY girls join the Army (this is what a CWO friend of mine told his daughter when she said she wanted to be in the Army like Daddy when she grows up..)..

Don't let her do it! Tell her to join the Air Force and arrange so the both of you get stationed at Joint Commands together until your College debts are paid off, and you are free again... (this is 5 1/2 years Naval service and a STRONG desire to cross over to the Army speaking...)

I'm going to have to side with Fenda on this one......There, of course, are rare exceptions, but yea.......Lots of skanky hoes.....The Air Force is much better for women IMO.

How does one get accepted into OCS from being a civilian? Does it just require a bachelor's degree?

Navy is looking for officers for Nuclear related things. They are offering bonuses of like 150k+.

Yes.

From what I've heard with a bachelors you are automatically accepted to become an officer.

you are more or less "automatically" accepted to officer candidate school. you have to pass ocs to become commissioned.

Wrong. You must take the AFOQT or similar aptitude test in order to be accepted to OTS/OCS. Just because you have a BA in basket weaving does not give you the ability to command or lead. "Line" side being different from the medical community.

^ From what I have seen, the only good officers are the ones that understand people. I think alot of these officers believe that their "men" are just things to do what they need them to do. So that test cant be all that hard.

I'm not saying that a lot of them aren't douchenozzles, just that they have aptitude. Knowledge and wisdom are far from aptitude.
