I have stirred up another anti rotary forum today, this time it was the celica supra guys. Should be pretty fun for a while.

retards don't know what a 20b is.

no torque? lol. when it came out it was japan's highest torque producing motor of any manufacturer.

yeah around like 280 or 300. I think they are made at the fact that it would be better.

Dude, the Supra guys are crazy.

They tend to be worse, and even more arrogant then the Civic kids.

. . .

One time I got in a many page argument on a forum that was convinced that for your highly modded Supra, the only way was an S-AFC with the stock ECU. No matter what, it would produce more peak power then a full standalone. :P

Also, where can you "buy a kit to convert 1 1/2 13bs into a 20b"?

How much would that be?

A used 20B might be cheeper :O

even used they're still expensive as hell. since unable to find another 808/rx3, if i could find a 70's model celica gt, i'd consider getting one of those and putting my engine in it.

chris, just curious but what's mandeville getting for a 20B? not that i could ever afford one.

As soon as we move, I plan on doing this. Its basically the whole reason I got the car. You cant beat $250 for one that is rust free, runs awsome, and just needs a couple things.

I plan on driving the car for a while, and when we move park it pull out the motor and start work.

Just do a google search for "Roger Mandeville" you'll have no trouble figuring out who he is or what he does :) He used to race for Mazda. Now he builds rotary motors and cars for other Mazda racers. He owns a shop here in Spartanburg called "Mandeville . . ." something or another, I forget what it's called. One of the nicest and most knowledgeable guys I ever met. I walked into his shop one day, and even though he was slam busy he took a couple minutes out of his * very busy * schedule to talk shop with me.

That's gonna be real fun! Be sure to keep us updated!

Jeez - I hate when people get into the 'It has 3 combustion chambers per rotor so it's really xx displacement!' crap. That's only true of 1 wall of the 'combustion chamber' as the sparkplugs don't move.

SAE standards say it's 1.3 litres. Or 2 litres in the case of a 20B. Standards already take into account the different configuration of the engine. If you want to deviate from standards, you could use whatever yardstick you want to measure engine size - throw the long block into a tank of water and see how much the whole engine displaces, f'rinstance. So what? Standards say it's X, don't bitch it's really Y.

I had never heard of him till now. And have lived close to him for a long time.

Is his shop cool?

hellz yeah!!

After he talked to me, he was like, "I gotta get back to work, dude. Nice to meet you. Feel free to walk around look at some things if you like."

Dude, there were 4 rotor's (whole motors) just laying around all over the place like they were nothing!!!! Some were in cars, some were waiting to be put in.

the SCCA class comment refers to classes in stuff like solo II

with a non stock engine that disqualifies you for many classes right off the bat. lol.

I take it he doesn't do work for just any joe that walks in off the street

I heard he specializes in custom projects

Correct. If by "custom projects" you mean "race only" then yeah, thats what he does. When I talked to him, he said that he did build a motor for someone once and the dude put it in his street car. The kid got busted for street racing and he pointed the finger at Roger for building him the motor (yeah, a 4 rotor). They tried to fine Roger like $10,000! But fortunately, they couldn't *prove* that he *knew* it was going into a street car since he only built the motor and didn't actually install it. So now he claims to only build it if he knows it is going into a track only car.

Yeah, not only did he cause Mandeville a bunch of problems, but the punk also screwed it up for the rest of us.
