I know SNTP knows what I'm referring to, but we'll call it a hypothetical situation over here at TFL.

Let's say there's a guy who owns a 93-95 sports car... I won't name any manufacturers, but it rhymes with "Nazda". :D

Anyway, he puts on a bunch of mods... Single turbo, exhaust, etc, etc, etc... Probably about $10k worth of mods, plus the price of the car, you figure he's into it for at least $25k... Then, he decides to store the car for the winter, so he cancels his full coverage insurance. Two days later, catastrophic engine fire, car is a total loss.

Would you donate money to the guy to help him replace his car?

Oh, I forgot to mention, said guy just sold his '04 Porsche Cayenne. Take that into consideration.

Here's a hell no.

If you have an asset you want protected, get and keep insurance.

It's that simple. If the dude was scraping for bus tickets and his house burned down then yeah, I'd toss him a few bucks, but not in this case.

I agree with Moses.....plus, if he just sold his Porsche Cayenne, he is obviously a rich fuck that lives in the good part of the city with his beautiful wife; but that is just speculation.

What kind of dumbass cancels comprehensive insurance on a car he's going to store just because he's not going to be driving it? Tough luck, lesson learned.

Yep, I agree. Plenty of people total their cars with just liability insurance and nobody thinks twice. He shouldnt have been driving it without insurance and he'll get his money when he sues whoever worked on it last.

Hell no. I was driving my old POS winter beater with only liability and the damn thing caught on fire. Not an engine fire mind you, some sort of leak in a fuel line type fire. The car is totalled. You don't see me on here begging for money to replace my winter beater.

And one of his friends has decided to plaster threads about it in all the technical sections, begging for money.

It's pretty pathetic.

No way. I would donate a few bucks if it was some guys daily driver that got his ass back and forth to work to feed his family but couldn't afford full coverage... but in this case? Nope.
