What do you call the carbonated beverage consumed by so many?

Soda or pop? Is it regional? (Like Bubbler vs fountain)

I call it soda, and live in WI.

I call it soda. I thought it was regional, but I also thought you fell into the region that calls it pop...so i dunno.

You forgot "coke". There are many people who refer to all soda as "coke". I used to, but switched to "soda" at some point in time.

I laugh when I hear someone say "pop".

used to be pop...but after working for coca cola for 12 years part-time it is soda...

When I was in Alabama and asked for a coke the waitress asked me what kind....it took me a second to figure out that she didn't get it

As you can see, only the civilized areas call it soda.

I don't think this map is 100% accurate. There are a whole lot of people up here in Washington that call sugary carbonated beverages soda.

I've always thought pop was a kiddie thing since it's easy to say. Also thought calling all soda "coke", then specifying what type of "coke" you want, was a southern thing.

Apparently not, judging from the 100% accurate and true fancy map with colors.

My county has the large percentage of everyone calling it "other"... I swear that most people refer to it as "drink" or "drank" depending upon ethnicity... I call it by whatever its name is... "Give me a mountain dew", "I'm stopping to grab a mountain dew", "hand me that mountain dew"... only makes sense to me.

Why would calling something by its name make sense? that is all just a bunch of hoopla!
