I curbed 3 of my wheels. They have a 3" polished lip with a clear coat. You cant tell they're damaged until you get about 3 feet away from them. I know my description sucks, but about how much am I looking at?

I've been wanting to put some black 20's on my Range Rover, but I am starting to see them so often that it won't be all that original. I do like the nice black painted wheels though.

I don't know. I'm not a fan of the all black wheel.

I'm not a fan of stock wheels painted black. It just looks cheap.

Shit you guys have some steep prices. Starting at $1000 for the set to be painted?

Hmmm, I could use some refinishing on 3 wheels, but I couldn't imagine dropping more than 500.

Still, really cool that this service exists in mobile form. The closest rim repair shop to me would have a 4-6 month waiting period.

I like the stock look better. I hate black wheels. It's a fad just like those damn spinners.

I need it done as well. Hey man, can you give a quote for refinishing four 18" wheels? I'll put a picture of them up, they mainly have some corrosion on the inside, and the clear coat is getting shitty on one of them. I don't have any closeups, but I don't think it would be much work

Where did you get that price? We only charged that guy $300 to paint those.

If they have to be machined you are looking about $100 per wheel.

On the website, under "other services" it says that the painting procedure starts at $1000.

Any idea for refinishing on my wheels? You can see that they are pretty clean, there is just some corrosion in some spots, and the clearcoat has faded on the spokes

Anyone good with photoshop? I don't have it on my computer anymore. I want to photoshop the wheels on my car black, and then a gunmetal color to see whether or not I would actually like it.

Can we PM you when we are ready to get our wheels repaired? I have to wait a few months since I'm paying a good amount for tuition and books. I am going to get them repaired by early next year at the latest.

Meddle, did you have a hook up?

3 of my Enkeis were abbraided, one with chunks missing, and another bent after my car went off the mountain. I had the bent one made true, and the abbrasions filled in with new metal, the wheels machined, and repainted/clearcoated... all for $600 CDN.

Can you make some nice huge rims fit my Vanagon? :D

They share lug patterns with Merc and Audi, but the centers have to be machined out.

I want at least around 255/16.

Doable? :D

ok I think I'm sold on the gunmetal. Here are some pics, discount the fact that they don't match this fugly car at all. Picture them on my dark red Range with the grey bumpers and underbody panels, I think they will look real sharp:

Sure no problem, only I will have to convince them to paint me black afterwards so everything matches. :D joke!

Okay. Focus your undivided attention at obtaining your black 911. Then you can worry about wheels for your Range Rover.

Happy now?

Oh and post pics of said 911.

Meddle, did you have a hook up?

i do a lot of business with him- he does all my paint and most of my mechanical shit if i am to lazy or don't have the time. But i think he charges me a fair price for the time involved. wheel finishing takes NOOO time there is a huge mark up in it.

Shit they aren't that expensive used. The value of British cars drops like a rock. You can pick up a 2003 for under $40k easy

Powder coat > paint

2ndGen.Rocket
05-22-2007, 10:55 AM
True, also alot more expensive.

BATMAN
05-22-2007, 02:12 PM
set of wheels like that would cost 50%- 60% cheaper (that's based on expensive CA cost of living factored in there).

2ndGen.Rocket
05-22-2007, 02:46 PM
cheaper than painting? I'd be hard pressed to find a place around here that would powdercoat those for less than $400. You also have to figure that there is a greater demand for those services in CA than in GA, and probably alot more options.

BATMAN

My 17" FD wheels cost me $250 for the entire set with all the prep work included.

Thanks man. I have 2007 badges on order, they are black and silver instead of the green and gold. That should put the finishing touch on it.
