$100T2 07-21-2005, 09:37 AM Everyone makes such a big deal about kids going from high school straight to the NBA. What's the big deal? Baseball teams draft kids to go to the minors all the time, as does hockey. Is it just because most of the kids going to the NBA are black and the baseball and hockey players from high school are mostly white? If it's fine for one, why isn't it fine for all? 91lx 07-21-2005, 10:25 AM What about that Darko guy getting drafted by Detroit and playing like 1 minute per game avg in 2 seasons ??? . $100T2 07-21-2005, 10:46 AM Yeah, everyone was talking about him like he was going to be so awesome. College gives them time to mature. That way they don't become "Ghetto Fabulous" too early and not know how to handle the NBA lifestyle. Whether they are white or black, hockey or basketball, you give an 18 year old a 10 million dollar contract and they're gonna go crazy, spend money like water, and not know how to act accordingly. Graduation from college is a milestone that you can appreciate and it is also a learning experience. I think all sports players should experience this first, even if it is for 2 years.
