I used to wear just a Columbia shell (no liner) in sub zero weather when I was still in school. Its all about what you are used to. Yesterday I was bumming around town in mid 20° weather in my snowmobile shell (god bless Klim) and was all good. edit: if you want a really warm coat, get a Carhartt black lined coat. Black lined is the warmest they make, red lined is next warmest, blanket lined is the least warmest. Carhartt's = :bigthumb: my company spend ~ $2,600 on Carhartt clothing for all the employees last tuesday. I worked in Atlantic City today; 34* when I started, 44* at 4pm , not including the windchill. 8-9hrs. a day in the cold is not fun, but I'm kinda used to it. As for Carhartt, they are very warm and durable, mainly made for working outside.
