EL PASO, Texas -- A man who recently bought a confiscated minivan from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office got more than he bargained for.
Sheriff's officials say a mechanic inspecting the 1997 Plymouth Voyager found about 100 pounds of marijuana in bundles underneath the vehicle. The buyer immediately returned the van to the sheriff's office.
The minivan originally was confiscated after investigators found about 350 pounds marijuana in it during a 2004 traffic stop.
Sheriff's officials are trying to figure out how investigators missed the additional stash of drugs.
The van is to be returned to the buyer next week.
