Bikes can't corner, and the smart riders pull over when they see a high powered sports car reeling them in on a mountain road. It's just too predictable..... but sometimes they just don't get it. And I've only got 300 rwhp. :)

IHI 04-30-2007, 12:42 AM This happens to me a lot. Bikes can't corner. If they lay it down far enough to achieve the same lateral g force my FC or even SHO can comfortably endure, they risk going down if the pavement gets rough or they hit a patch of gravel. Tofuball 04-30-2007, 07:55 AM Thats his point. I know we have tons of them here, people who only ride when the weather is just turning perfect and then never again :P They drive super slow everywhere and being stuck behind them on twisty roads SUCKS. Tofuball 04-30-2007, 11:19 AM harleys, yes, but you typically don't see that with sport riders Around here you do :( All the time  Tofuball 04-30-2007, 12:04 PM What makes you think I have any clue? What am I going to show them on my moped? :P I'm not licensed yet. EDIT: Or did you mean I should roll over them with my van? :P 2ndGen.Rocket 04-30-2007, 12:43 PM Thats his point. No, he was saying that bikes can't corner in general. Not true. Tofuball 04-30-2007, 12:50 PM I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic with that statement :P Fatmikey916 04-30-2007, 01:55 PM isle of man pretty much shows how capable bikes really are with a good (well amazing in this instance) rider on it. Steel 04-30-2007, 03:57 PM Yes that was a n awesome video. I'm going to be one of those slow guys, becasue the SV1000 will be new to me. I'll make sure to pull over for any impatient drivers:) J_R 04-30-2007, 07:54 PM All you bikers are so high and mighty, I need to find that top gear vid of the 911 vs the sport bike on the track and the 911 winning. ReverendDexter 04-30-2007, 08:47 PM Bikes have a huge advantage in acceleration due to their very high power:weight ratios. However, by design, a car handles better. A car has more rubber on the road, a lower center of gravity, and is already at full "lean" at corner entry. Bikes can "hide" their inability to corner using how fast they can accelerate out of them. Also, sport bikes are much akin to racecars than sports cars, a sports car has to still make compromises for things like NVH. And I agree, you can't beat a bike in terms of bang for the buck performance: $10K for a vehicle that will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and get 40+ mpg is ludicrous. All this being said, I'll stick with my car. Why? 1) Snow. 2)Drift. No, I don't do it intentionally, but when my ass slides out from underneath me, I'm not gonna lay my car down. 3)Passengers - I have a dog. Dogs don't ride bikes. And I've been stuck behind a lot more sport bikes than they've been stuck behind me. Steel 04-30-2007, 09:30 PM 1. Move to arizona 2. Yeah... but you cant do stoppies and 12oclocks with cars! :p 3. http://petprojectblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/doghelmet1.jpg 2ndGen.Rocket 04-30-2007, 09:49 PM All you bikers are so high and mighty, I need to find that top gear vid of the 911 vs the sport bike on the track and the 911 winning. No one said high and mighty, we are just reciting the simple fact that there are VERY, VERY few street driven cars that would even touch a modern sportbike in terms of handling and acceleration. It's a fact Jack, deal with it. As many videos as you can show me of a car beating a streetbike, I can show you more showing the opposite. ComradeGiant 04-30-2007, 10:13 PM 1. Move to arizona 2. Smokey's head is bigger than the dog in the pic. He's almost as big as my Nighthawk. I know you're smart enough to remember that the original point of this thread was that it takes more balls to push a sport bike on an average road than a sports car, hence most sane riders don't go all out on a sunday afternoon. But for the sake of repetition, I'll bring it back up. Queen 05-01-2007, 01:41 AM . http://petprojectblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/doghelmet1.jpg awwwwww and good Lord that thing looks fat 2ndGen.Rocket 05-01-2007, 01:49 AM I know you're smart enough to remember that the original point of this thread was that it takes more balls to push a sport bike on an average road than a sports car, hence most sane riders don't go all out on a sunday afternoon. But for the sake of repetition, I'll bring it back up. Yeah obviously. I'm just coming from the point of view that I have a whole lot of twisty roads around me that I ride on, and I can't think of one time that I had a car stuck behind me. ReverendDexter 05-01-2007, 02:52 AM No no, he has a DOG. Smokey's head is bigger than the dog in the pic. He's almost as big as my Nighthawk. For those who don't know, Smokey is my black lab - he's ~110 lbs and at that weight looks anorexic. And yes, his head alone is about as big as the dog in that pic. Steel 05-01-2007, 08:32 AM Well...hum.. Get a REAL BIG bike for him. Maybe a Boss Hoss or something, heh. IHI 05-02-2007, 02:03 AM Yeah obviously. I'm just coming from the point of view that I have a whole lot of twisty roads around me that I ride on, and I can't think of one time that I had a car stuck behind me. Thanks for pointing that out. :bigthumb: ReverendDexter 05-02-2007, 05:20 PM Yeah obviously. I'm just coming from the point of view that I have a whole lot of twisty roads around me that I ride on, and I can't think of one time that I had a car stuck behind me. That's because the car is usually "stuck" behind you in the middle of the corner, where you're paying attention to the corner, and then you come out of it quick enough to give yourself some distance before you look back. That's what always happens to me, and why the bikes never seem to pull over. |
