I just finished mine. :) I have a one-day approach to finals: study the day of the final, and if I paid attention during class, the test will be an easy take-down. It's good to have that freshly packed information from an hour before when it's time to earn 45% of the class grade.

Depends on the class. If it's something like stats, I read the textbook and the lecture notes. Then I get the old exam from the previous year and answer it about 5 times. The idea behind this is that if I'm able to memorize the old questions, I can draw on them and relate in to new questions as I'm writing the exam.

Stats is easy IMO. I only have 3 this upcoming week; one in social psych, one in some stupid n00b buplic speaking course, and one in music theory (elective).

I don't know if I would say that it's easy for me or not. I should end up with an average in the low 90% but that required a lot of work in the days prior to the midterms and the exam.

Unless you're a brilliant entrepreneur with some financial backing, getting a (useful) degree is the quickest path to getting paid to sit around and tell everyone else what to do. It's a more fulfilling life than one of clerical tasks or manual labor, and our society values the degree for some odd reason and pays a lot more for having one, even if you're doing the same job as before.

I already have a degree, I'm just going to get another one. Plus experience pays more then a degree around here (in most instances)

Well, just finished a take home exam today. I honestly thought that it would be really easy but writting this damn thing was like pulling teeth.

In order to write, first one must appreciate its value. The pen and a paper are two of mankind's most powerful tool, because it is the most accurate and efficient way to transfer ideas (formulas, etc). I always sleep next to a pen and a pad. Well enough of this philosophical bullshit. Have fun.

Well on Friday I got back my take home final...got a 90% on it (it was pretty freaking hard)....worst one so far.

Ended up getting an A in the class, thought I was going to have a B. The highest graded was a 93.5 in the class and I was at 88.61%. Prof curved the class by a few percentage points so I was pretty happy with that....this was the hardest graduate level class so far, ALL theory, with little programming. (Software metrics). So I still maintain my 4.0 so far (1/2 through) for my masters. I'm going to have to send him a Christmas card for that.

Next semester is going to be kick ass fun as its two classes I've been really looking forward to take.

Yea. The thing I'm skurred of is that once I transfer I won't be able to handle university level educaton. I've heard that people who get straight A's in JuCo and transfer usualy fail some classes their first semeter. I'm skurrred. And I'm already thinking about a masters, but first things first.

True, here's the reality of testing: when writing, the most important thing is your frame of mind. The knowledge, most likely, is there. It's just a matter of retrieving it. In order to do that, it's best to be calm and confident.

I have my last final of the semester tomorrow in Music Theory. I have to listen to the full version of Beethoven's 5th Symphony and identify based upon sound the errors in the piece. Translation=t3h suck.

Edit to add: It is going to have a few fuckups in the piece that I have to recognize. The test consists of identifying the fuck ups. IE. Something being played augmented that should be diminished. A Part in Major when it should be in Minor. Something played in 12s when it should be in 16s etc etc etc.

Mine was only worth 20% luckily, but man...is it hard to distinguish fuckups in classical music. One of the pieces was Vivaldi's "Four Seasons." I seriously thought that it had about 26 errors in the piece played and it was only about 6 minutes long.

Well, it's now time to apply for internships and I've just discovered that I have a cousin who is a partner at a CA firm. Also marks (sorry, grades) just came in and I did pretty well this term.

At the risk of breaking routine and not complaining, things are looking pretty good.
