Ark2 12-02-2007, 07:47 PM ...not really but this is so boring. Lately I've just been dividing my time between reading textbooks and watching Deadwood. Eatmyclutch 12-02-2007, 07:48 PM You are so erotic. Ark2 12-02-2007, 08:29 PM thanks... I'll try to work something in about auto-fellatio next time... you know, to keep you interested. Queen 12-02-2007, 08:42 PM lmfao Vert8813B 12-02-2007, 09:08 PM mmmmm...gingerbread house. Vert8813B 12-07-2007, 03:18 PM Do what they did in Road trip. Try and associate stuff to something you like. The example from the movie was teaching greek philosophy by using professional wrestling as analogies. 95whitepep 12-07-2007, 04:33 PM I'm lucky that my one final this year is take home. IHI 12-07-2007, 09:29 PM I just finished mine. :) I have a one-day approach to finals: study the day of the final, and if I paid attention during class, the test will be an easy take-down. It's good to have that freshly packed information from an hour before when it's time to earn 45% of the class grade. Ark2 12-07-2007, 10:44 PM ark-man, so you cram or do it the methodical way? Depends on the class. If it's something like stats, I read the textbook and the lecture notes. Then I get the old exam from the previous year and answer it about 5 times. The idea behind this is that if I'm able to memorize the old questions, I can draw on them and relate in to new questions as I'm writing the exam. Queen 12-07-2007, 10:46 PM One of mine is worth 50% of the grade He's a sadist I say Ark2 12-07-2007, 10:54 PM yeah, that sucks, I had one that was worth 45% last year. They fired that prof for some reason... Eatmyclutch 12-07-2007, 11:08 PM Well, if this helps: reinforcement is key. Vert8813B 12-08-2007, 12:26 PM Stats is easy IMO. I only have 3 this upcoming week; one in social psych, one in some stupid n00b buplic speaking course, and one in music theory (elective). Ark2 12-08-2007, 12:34 PM I don't know if I would say that it's easy for me or not. I should end up with an average in the low 90% but that required a lot of work in the days prior to the midterms and the exam. rtryb2200 12-08-2007, 07:10 PM I think I am going to go back to school... IHI 12-09-2007, 12:45 AM Unless you're a brilliant entrepreneur with some financial backing, getting a (useful) degree is the quickest path to getting paid to sit around and tell everyone else what to do. It's a more fulfilling life than one of clerical tasks or manual labor, and our society values the degree for some odd reason and pays a lot more for having one, even if you're doing the same job as before. rtryb2200 12-09-2007, 03:58 AM I already have a degree, I'm just going to get another one. Plus experience pays more then a degree around here (in most instances) Eatmyclutch 12-09-2007, 05:09 PM Double major or master's? rtryb2200 12-09-2007, 05:49 PM neither...just another associates degree Ark2 12-10-2007, 11:09 PM Well, just finished a take home exam today. I honestly thought that it would be really easy but writting this damn thing was like pulling teeth. Eatmyclutch 12-11-2007, 01:32 AM In order to write, first one must appreciate its value. The pen and a paper are two of mankind's most powerful tool, because it is the most accurate and efficient way to transfer ideas (formulas, etc). I always sleep next to a pen and a pad. Well enough of this philosophical bullshit. Have fun. Ark2 12-11-2007, 10:33 AM Thanks for that, Confucius andyr32 12-11-2007, 02:10 PM Been there and done that. Studying for exams sucks but the relief when they are all over is pretty nice. Eatmyclutch 12-11-2007, 02:24 PM Werd Ark2 12-15-2007, 05:50 PM GAHHH!!!! I'm going out of my fucking mind Tofuball 12-15-2007, 08:45 PM * hug * :p 95whitepep 12-15-2007, 11:23 PM Well on Friday I got back my take home final...got a 90% on it (it was pretty freaking hard)....worst one so far. Ended up getting an A in the class, thought I was going to have a B. The highest graded was a 93.5 in the class and I was at 88.61%. Prof curved the class by a few percentage points so I was pretty happy with that....this was the hardest graduate level class so far, ALL theory, with little programming. (Software metrics). So I still maintain my 4.0 so far (1/2 through) for my masters. I'm going to have to send him a Christmas card for that. Next semester is going to be kick ass fun as its two classes I've been really looking forward to take. Eatmyclutch 12-16-2007, 03:33 AM How is I be gud in skoo? Ark2 12-16-2007, 10:14 AM How is I be gud in skoo? community college? 95whitepep 12-16-2007, 10:17 AM community college? Art School? Here take an art test, you too can become a serious art student. http://www.artinstructionschools.edu/ Ark2 12-16-2007, 11:36 AM I was referring to Eat My Cooch over there, as he spells like a fucking retard. Art school might be cool after you've retired and got some cash to burn. czarofzar 12-16-2007, 11:47 AM lolz 95whitepep 12-16-2007, 12:07 PM I was referring to Eat My Cooch over there, as he spells like a fucking retard. Art school might be cool after you've retired and got some cash to burn. Those art schools are a scam.... Ark2 12-16-2007, 12:10 PM Really? I've never really thought about it. 95whitepep 12-16-2007, 12:25 PM Really? I've never really thought about it. Yea, anyone can pass the art test....for money they send you 'coloring books' guised as an education....almost like the old school record clubs. Tons about it on the internet... Eatmyclutch 12-16-2007, 08:07 PM community college? Yea. The thing I'm skurred of is that once I transfer I won't be able to handle university level educaton. I've heard that people who get straight A's in JuCo and transfer usualy fail some classes their first semeter. I'm skurrred. And I'm already thinking about a masters, but first things first. Ark2 12-17-2007, 07:01 PM Alright, tomorrow I write my last exam and it's worth 50% of my final grade. I've got this theory that I'm contemplating on testing. Every exam is designed with a back-door that allows you to pass without actually possessing any real knowledge. The longer you think about the question, cross-referencing it with things you've seen in movies or conversations that you overheard while standing in line to take this very exam, the more likely it is that you get the right answer! 95whitepep 12-17-2007, 07:53 PM Alright, tomorrow I write my last exam and it's worth 50% of my final grade. Unfortunately in AI, thats a bad thing. When too many assertions are correlated with each other then you get collisions and thus chaos.... So if you want to associate everything with everything...well you get everything. Ark2 12-17-2007, 08:34 PM True, here's the reality of testing: when writing, the most important thing is your frame of mind. The knowledge, most likely, is there. It's just a matter of retrieving it. In order to do that, it's best to be calm and confident. Queen 12-17-2007, 08:39 PM my final that counted 50% went down beautifully by the way I am an immunology genius. Vert8813B 12-17-2007, 09:06 PM I have my last final of the semester tomorrow in Music Theory. I have to listen to the full version of Beethoven's 5th Symphony and identify based upon sound the errors in the piece. Translation=t3h suck. Edit to add: It is going to have a few fuckups in the piece that I have to recognize. The test consists of identifying the fuck ups. IE. Something being played augmented that should be diminished. A Part in Major when it should be in Minor. Something played in 12s when it should be in 16s etc etc etc. Ark2 12-18-2007, 03:40 PM Well kids, there really is no substitute for hard work.... maybe natural genius 95whitepep 12-18-2007, 04:11 PM I am an immunology genius. You mean you are better than most for spreading diseases? Vert8813B 12-18-2007, 07:22 PM My final sucked. Ark2 12-18-2007, 07:25 PM Yeah, mine didn't go too hot either. Good thing it was only worth 50%......SHIT!!! Vert8813B 12-18-2007, 07:32 PM Mine was only worth 20% luckily, but man...is it hard to distinguish fuckups in classical music. One of the pieces was Vivaldi's "Four Seasons." I seriously thought that it had about 26 errors in the piece played and it was only about 6 minutes long. Queen 12-18-2007, 07:42 PM recent discovery: filling out med school apps = nihilism rtryb2200 12-18-2007, 08:04 PM my final that counted 50% went down beautifully by the way I am an immunology genius. Queen is now smarter than all of us Ark2 12-18-2007, 08:07 PM That's not that great of an accomplishment. Queen 12-18-2007, 08:12 PM Queen is now smarter than all of us "now"? rtryb2200 12-18-2007, 09:02 PM That's what I said IHI 12-19-2007, 02:09 AM Well kids, there really is no substitute for hard work.... maybe natural genius Grace? Ark2 12-20-2007, 10:25 AM Just got back 2 of my marks, ended up getting an A in one and an A+ in another... good times Vert8813B 12-20-2007, 10:50 AM On the test itself or overall? Queen 12-20-2007, 11:16 AM marks? are you 85 or is that a Canada thing? Vert8813B 12-20-2007, 11:34 AM marx? Manntis 12-20-2007, 11:35 AM Canadian thing. Like saying Grade 12 vs. 12th Grade. Ark2 12-20-2007, 11:47 AM On the test itself or overall? Overall. They have this stupid policy where they don't release your exam mark, you have to guess at what you got. Ark2 12-20-2007, 11:48 AM marks? are you 85 or is that a Canada thing? I didn't realize that that was a Canadian thing. What do you guys say? Vert8813B 12-20-2007, 11:49 AM I hear Mark all the time, but I'm from NY, not SC. I guess they call them Grades or Scores. Queen 12-20-2007, 11:53 AM Grades.. I only ever hear old men use marks Ark2 12-20-2007, 11:55 AM well, I guess that makes me old then Vert8813B 12-20-2007, 11:58 AM Can we start calling you floppy dick now? Ark2 12-20-2007, 12:09 PM I should be good for a few more years, but thanks for your concern there, super trooper. Queen 12-20-2007, 12:10 PM It's his job to be concerned with members' genitalia.. don't take it personally Vert8813B 12-20-2007, 12:10 PM does canada's socialized medicine system give out viagra? Vert8813B 12-20-2007, 12:11 PM It's his job to be concerned with members' genitalia.. don't take it personally You know me too well. ;) Ark2 12-20-2007, 12:15 PM does canada's socialized medicine system give out viagra? couldn't tell ya... at any rate, you would still need a perscription which I doubt that any doctor would write for a 20 year old Ark2 01-08-2008, 07:05 PM Well, it's now time to apply for internships and I've just discovered that I have a cousin who is a partner at a CA firm. Also marks (sorry, grades) just came in and I did pretty well this term. At the risk of breaking routine and not complaining, things are looking pretty good. mass extinction 01-08-2008, 07:22 PM good for you |
