Cosby 12-17-2006, 10:38 PM I just sold my green jeep so I'm going to blow about $2300 on my new jeep. Any suggestions? Only for sure thing so far is some backspaced wheels w/ street lock and tires. I haven't even decided on the tires. Tofuball 12-18-2006, 08:40 AM Winch. :P babygirl_GS-R 12-18-2006, 11:08 AM he already has one of those :) rtryb2200 12-18-2006, 02:08 PM big lift and lockers aznpoopy 12-18-2006, 02:22 PM browning machine gun DarkAngelKamui 12-18-2006, 02:46 PM +1 Cosby 12-18-2006, 05:10 PM I already have a lift and lockers although I'm looking at changing to an ox locker and definitely need new shocks. Cosby 12-18-2006, 05:10 PM So far the machine gun is the best :) Tofuball 12-18-2006, 06:07 PM Hydrogen Peroxide Rocket. Nothing quite like 3000HP on tap. rxtasy 12-18-2006, 11:25 PM 20b?:hide: mazdaspeedrex 12-20-2006, 07:45 AM flamethrower :flamed: rtryb2200 12-20-2006, 06:43 PM how about onboard compressor and welder Cosby 12-21-2006, 12:17 PM the welder is pretty expensive once it's all finished. I'd like a compressor for sure though. I'm about to buy 5 35x12.5 mickey thompson MTZs so there goes $1100 :) Tofuball 12-21-2006, 12:47 PM All cars come stock with a welder. You just hook jumper wires to your car battery and stick a coat hanger on the positive lead and your negative lead to the work. rtryb2200 12-21-2006, 02:39 PM I have some Goodyear MT/R 315/75/16 if you want to go up a size they have less then 7000 miles Cosby 12-21-2006, 04:08 PM good year MTRs aren't gangsta enough for me...sorry Say No To Pistons 12-21-2006, 06:25 PM Off road lamps! rtryb2200 12-21-2006, 06:42 PM Just thought I would try...next time around I think I will be going with bfg krawlers or mickey thompson baja claws Alex-7 12-21-2006, 08:12 PM Full current specs on your YJ please. Without knowing what you have it's hard to say what you need. Say No To Pistons 12-21-2006, 09:24 PM Too bad it doesn't snow much down there. You could've brought a snow plow and made money. Cosby 12-22-2006, 03:12 AM Off road lamps! Got them Just thought I would try...next time around I think I will be going with bfg krawlers or mickey thompson baja claws The baja claws are great for straight line mud or rocks if you get the non radial but they're HORRIBLE if you want to actually MOVE in mud or have any kind of lateral traction. They have the same problem the boggers, xterrains, etc have. Get something high void with some lugs and sidewall but with lateral traction. That's why I'm a fan of the MTZs. They're high load tires with thick sidewalls, high void, high mileage, siped, etc. They're a great tire. Pricey but worth it. The jeep is a 90 yj 4.2L with a 8.8 Rear, SOA, inside is rhino lined, TJ flares, ramsey 8k winch (w/ warn snatch block), dual cardon drive shaft, tcase drop, pitman arm drop, some steering crap, wrap bars, cb/pa, cool ooga horn, ordering 35x12.5-15 mtzs on crager 15x8 wheels I'm contemplating the warn front hub conversion. It's supposed to make your dana 30 axles as strong as a dana 44 and allows for replaceable wheel bearings. I just replaced a hub with a spare and I think I might have another bad one on the other side. mazdaspeedrex 12-22-2006, 07:56 AM MTZ's are a great choice for an all around tire. Claw's have a great look but you're right about how they work. What I hate is people who put tires like that on a Jeep and then just drive them around town. Cosby 12-22-2006, 12:20 PM yeah, I have TSLs on it now. It's an impressive tire even bald but I think the MTZ still destroys the radial TSL and the non radial TSL lasts less than 10,000 miles so it's a pretty easy choice. The only other competitor was the Irok. FDTHREES 12-22-2006, 03:39 PM Pictures??? Cosby 12-22-2006, 08:19 PM Today I ordered 5 35x12.5-15 MTZs on Crager 15x8 wheels with centercaps and locking lug nuts for about $1130 (gotta love being a M/T dealer) Later tonight or tomorrow I'll start ordering suspension components. So far I'm going to redesign all of the shock mounts with a SOA setup. I'm going to see if the new mounting locations and new shocks eliminate my axle wrap. If not I'll have to put the trac bar back on. MORE makes a front shock extender that also allows you to get away from the crap stud style top mount. The new shock mount locations will let me run shocks that are 3" longer. http://www.mountainoffroad.com/catalog/ShockMounts/04.jpg http://www.mountainoffroad.com/catalog/ShockMounts/05.jpg Don't have any new pics. This is one from the first week I had the pos. http://www.theforumlounge.com/d/12525-2/104_0668.JPG rxtasy 12-22-2006, 09:36 PM most definately go with manual hub conversion. it will make a noticeable difference in gas mileage when 2 wheeling. as for the earlier post on the snow plow, money can still be made pulling ppl out of ditches with just a logging chain. and since it's already got the wench, it's just that much mobeta. Cosby 12-22-2006, 11:37 PM With the snatch block I could theoretically hang someone's car from a bridge so pulling people out would be easy unless they actually drive the bridge. okay, latest list of stuff to be ordered: 98200 Universal Weld On Shock Mounts x 2 9950 Rear Upper Shock Mounts x 1 SC9601 Shock Conversion x 1 Rancho 9126 9 way adjustable shocks x 2 Rancho 9012 9 way adjustable shocks x 2 (longest shocks rancho makes) Bombproof Engine Mounts x 1 Aussie Locker for Ford 8.8 31 Spline Axle Bestop Upper doors for Supertop (hoping they fit the cj/yj hardtop but will have to call to confirm) |
