Ramkatral 06-13-2005, 11:39 AM Ok, now that the JRSC secret is out, I got a question that maybe someone can help with. On normal operation, at WOT, my guage reads 8 PSI, and it hits that level really early in the RPM spectrum. The ECU is automatically set to engage VTEC at 1PSI, to allow the increased flow. However, lately, the usual dull whining sound has become a little louder and weird sounding. It kinda has started to sound a little like a dying power steering pump. Also, the boosting is erradically jumping between 6 and 8 PSI, and it won't even touch 8 PSI until like 3500-4000 RPMS. Finally, the VTEC, which normally engages at around 2500 RPMs, isn't engaging until around 3200. Any ideas? Low end response and torque are taking a noooose dive because of this. Cosby 06-13-2005, 12:27 PM Leak or bad s/c Etnies_Chic 06-13-2005, 01:36 PM wow since ive been gone we actually started posting in the right sections, lol 91lx 06-13-2005, 08:35 PM im not sure, but 2500-3200 is low for vtec to engage. must be standalone and/or chipped ? preludedude 06-14-2005, 12:17 AM normally hits vtec around 2500? thats not normal..actually, thats far from normal...what engine are you running? b16? in preludes (h22), vtec doesnt hit until 5200rpms, and then redlines at 7500... just wanna see what makes your engine open up for vtec at such a low rpm.... so during daily driving, driving very easy and shifting early, your car falls in and out of vtec? dont think so....even when i shift my car very early, i turn it to 2800-3k rpms....just seems that to hit VTEc without WOT would fudge something up.. Mark 95SE Ramkatral 06-14-2005, 07:14 AM Nonono, you misunderstand me. It engages VTEC at exactly 1 PSI of boost. It's a Hondata computer. I am saying that at WOT, it catches the boost and engages VTEC at around 2500. Without boost, I usually leave it at 4600. The stock ODBII ECU sets it at 5400. Actually, your vtec engaging early without WOT wouldn't do anything but screw your gas mileage up and make it run sloppy. Alot of dumbasses buy a VAFC and tune it to engage vtec super low like it's some magic pixie dust that makes cars go fast. All it does is ruin your low end respose. Anyway, I personally think it's losing castor oil from the blower. I'm gonna go on a mission to track down any leaks today. I hope to god it isn't, because according to Jackson Racing, the only way to refill it and fix it is to give it to them and have them totally rebuild it, and that will be a pain in the ass. Not only do I have to completely remove the system, but I have to put back all of my N/A shit. Ramkatral 06-16-2005, 02:46 PM Goddamnit, this thing is running like shit. I don't wanna take it off and leave it N/A, it'll lose a shitload of power, but I might have no choice if I can't get it working right. 91lx 06-16-2005, 02:51 PM take some pics. ill buy it if u dont want too much. id like to see pics anyways to see how one would look under my hood. Ramkatral 06-16-2005, 02:59 PM Hell, I can show you where to see all kinds of different cars with one. You can't even see it unless you know it's there It simply replaces your TB and Intake manifold, and the pulley is down and hidden by the head. All that's there to give it away is that the TB tilts towards the front and is a little longer, and it says Jackson Racing on the top of the IM. Ramkatral 06-16-2005, 03:00 PM Problem is, if it IS leaking oil from the casing, it's ruined, and you'll have no use whatsoever for it. preludedude 06-16-2005, 05:48 PM we all know what a JRSC looks like on a honda engine, but we still want a picture of yours....so post it... Mark 95SE Ramkatral 06-16-2005, 08:39 PM Lemme get a USB cable that will fit this stupid Sony Cybershot, and sure thing. I bought a regular USB cable, and it was apparently too big for the port on the camera. Ramkatral 06-16-2005, 08:41 PM Alas, I did find some drippage underneath the housing. Not 100% sure it's fron the SC, but I think it might be. I'm going to take it to someone who's a little more knowledgeable about these sorts of things and get their opinion. 91lx 06-16-2005, 11:05 PM ill rebuild it no prob. shoot me a price. Ramkatral 06-17-2005, 10:06 AM Hrm... I'll make you a deal. If it is in fact gonna have to be pulled. Along with that turbo, do you have the oil and vacuum lines? Cosby 06-17-2005, 05:10 PM I'd like to take a shot at rebuilding a sc too :) 91lx 06-17-2005, 08:53 PM you have to buy those for your specific application. advance auto / ace hardware has pretty much everything as far as those. Ramkatral 06-18-2005, 06:11 PM I think I could part with it in exchange for the turbo, assuming the turbo infact DOES have minimal shaft play, and is in good condition. Also, it has to fit my header. I got a guy who's going to take a look at it Monday at 2 PM, so we'll see what happens. 91lx 06-21-2005, 04:15 AM look in my gallery.... pics are under Brad's turbo talon and stuff folder bc those turbos have been in his garage at least a year now in a pillow case locked in a metal cabinet lol. one of them had shaft play the other one was fine. one is from a Daytona turbo the other is from another turbo Chrysler. turboSE 07-21-2005, 05:13 AM superchargers are for sissies :dunno: Cosby 07-22-2005, 03:53 PM I like superchargers |
