An elementary teacher starts a new job at a school in Boston and trying to make a good impression on her first day, explains to her class that she's a Celtics fan.

She asks the class to raise their hands if they too are Celtics fans. Everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl.


The teacher looks at the girl with surprise and says: "Mary, why didn't you raise your hand?" Because I'm not a Celtics fan," she replied. The teacher, still shocked, asked: "Well, if you're not a Celtics fan, then who do you support?"


"I'm a Spurs fan, and proud of it," Mary replied. The teacher could not believe her ears. "Mary, why are you a Spurs fan?"

"Because my mom and dad are from San Antonio and my mom is a Spurs fan and my dad is a Spurs fan, so I'm a Spurs fan too!"


"Well," said the teacher, in an obviously annoyed tone, "that's no reason for you to be a Spurs fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your mom was a prostitute and your dad was a drug addict and a car thief, what would you be then?"


Mary said, "I'd be a Pistons fan."

A former Dorman High School math teacher who came to District 6 with glowing recommendations was accused Tuesday night of sexual misconduct with a 16-year-old girl.

Stacy Lea Strawn, 24, of Upper Valley Road, Spartanburg, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was released on a personal recognizance bond later Tuesday night. Strawn is accused of sexual misconduct with a student at the school, according to Spartanburg County sheriff's spokesman Eric Lawson. Lawson said he could not be more specific about the charges against Strawn. Sheriff's deputies began investigating when an anonymous letter accusing Strawn of sexual relations with some students was sent to Sheriff Bill Coffey, according to an incident report. The warrant against Strawn was signed by a sheriff's deputy. In November, Strawn was placed on administrative leave and later left her job. Spartanburg School District 6 Superintendent David Eubanks would not say whether she resigned or was fired. The student's father said he had complained to administrators late last year about Strawn's involvement with his daughter, who wasn't one of her students. Eubanks did say the complaints he received had nothing to do with sexual misconduct. Eubanks said Strawn came to District 6 with "glowing recommendations" from another Spartanburg school district, which he wouldn't identify. Strawn is married, but she and her husband are legally separated. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor carries a possible three-year jail sentence and a possible $3,000 fine. The warrant accuses Strawn of "encourag(ing) (the girl) ... to willfully injure or endanger her morals or health." The father said he learned about the alleged relationship by noticing his daughter's unusual behavior. "We have a very good relationship with our children," he said.
