skydivr7673 08-30-2008, 10:59 PM alright, so we are hanging out up by Little Rock, Arkansas for a few days....got up here this afternoon. Anyone else relocate for this one?
It's supposed to come ashore quite close to where we live, and its supposed to be a Cat 4, maybe a 5.....so we packed up the girls and the dog and came up here. Anyone have any ideas of fun things to do in the Little Rock area while we're waiting it out?
1revnrex 08-30-2008, 11:06 PM Good luck with that man. I will probably be headed that way again to do more cleanup within a couple of weeks.
wotnartd 08-31-2008, 12:01 AM Good luck, bro. Hope your house is still there when you get home.
czarofzar 08-31-2008, 12:52 AM yeah no shit. Luck to ya

Call Razorback from the 7Club, he's in Arkansas.
Palumbo 08-31-2008, 07:53 AM You can give him a decent haircut while you are there.
On a serious note, I hope all turns out well, I'm sorry that you are put into such a terrible position.
95whitepep 08-31-2008, 09:16 AM Dude, good luck with your family and all. At least you know that you are in control and out of the weather. Your family is safe, start with that.
skydivr7673 08-31-2008, 09:44 AM I wonder how long it will take marky to pop in here with a new screen name and curse the fact that I wont be killed in my house by this storm.....lmao....
yeah, we may actually be staying for longer, because of TS Hannah...if it crosses into the gulf we'll have to wait that one out too
sonofabelch 08-31-2008, 10:08 AM Take care man. I know it sucks but make the best of your vacation. Mark will be back soon as soon as me or someone else starts making sense in one of his threads, so have no fear- you'll have the death threats in no time :)

You know he asked God to hit you with a hurricane, right?
1revnrex 08-31-2008, 03:01 PM Yah serious shit he did, didn't he?
1revnrex 08-31-2008, 03:08 PM http://www.theforumlounge.com/showpost.php?p=171861&postcount=9
It's unacceptable for me to say, "People like you ought to be shot through the head." at mark for telling someone he's glad someone's house was obliterated in a hurricane, and he hopes their cancer comes back, but it's OK for mark to tell that person, "Go die in a hurricane, Jonny", or to email me and tell me that he "prayed to God to take Jon's life" just because he's tired of him!
Damn thats fucked up. Mark really IS the Anti-Christ.
skydivr7673 08-31-2008, 03:27 PM You know he asked God to hit you with a hurricane, right?
he's been saying that ever since Katrina hit three years ago.....first it was 'catch the next hurricane"....then it was 'i hope the next hurricane levels your house, with you in it'.....this isnt anything new. but hey, isnt that what all uber-christians are supposed to do--pray for the death of people they dont even know??
wow, I wanna be just like him.......:blah:

95whitepep 08-31-2008, 06:45 PM LOL with TS Hanna.
It looks like its going to hit the Carolinas...sweet justice for the stump chump?
How about that one Marky?
clean85owner 08-31-2008, 08:43 PM So, I'm sitting in my house, using up all the innuhnets I can get, waiting for the power to go, when I stumble back upon this place.
What's up guys?
We decided to ride the storm out. We'll see how it goes. Analysts are actually saying we might get some trouble from this storm (unlike most storms, where we're fine), but I think we'll make it a-okay.
Best of luck to you and yours, skydivr7673.

hey man, arent you in Houma? man, good luck to you and your family staying down there. Its supposed to make one hell of a mess of that whole parish. The problem we have is that we live right next to lafourche parish, so we might be close enough to get hit pretty hard this time.
85--if there's anything at all that you need, let us know and we will do whatever we can to lend a hand. We will be up here in AR for at least the week, depending on what it looks like after tomorrow
skydivr7673 08-31-2008, 09:41 PM Good luck, man. Where are you in relation to where they think it will hit?
if i remember right, he's from houma, and that is right where the worst of the storm is looking like it's gonna come through. the eye will make landfall further to the west, but the worst part of these storms is the east side of them. it's gonna hit as a category 3, with storm surge up to 15-18 feet and more than a foot of rainfall....and the parish where 85 lives is all low-lying land that has a history of flooding in various places.
man, 85, i wish you the best of luck, we will say a prayer for ya
clean85owner 08-31-2008, 09:49 PM http://county-map.digital-topo-maps.com/louisiana-county-map.gif
I'm in the mid-southern portion of St. Charles Parish. Landfall is expected between St. Mary and Lafourche Parishes.
Weather's still calm: no rain or wind, even though the news people are telling me that feeder bands are, apparently, pissing down on top of me.
Sky--Thanks for the thoughts. You and your's are in my thoughts, as well. BTDub, where the hell do you live? Jefferson?
$100T2 08-31-2008, 09:59 PM Are Parishes like counties?
clean85owner 08-31-2008, 10:08 PM Yes. Louisiana is the only state to not have counties. We have parishes. The news is saying about 1,000 people in NOLA are without power right now; so it shouldn't be much longer before mine goes. Really sucks because the eye won't make landfall until tomorrow at, like, noon. Ugh. I really hope power is back within three days.

not sure why I thought you were in houma....
on that map I am in st. james parish--and yes, parishes are what we call counties. Lafourche parish could very well become one giant lake with this storm and I live just to the north of the parish line. the plant i work at is in st charles parish and we did a full shut down on friday.
85--the rain band that was supposed to be over you now has already broken up, we wont be so lucky with the rest of the storm.
clean85owner 08-31-2008, 10:22 PM Back when we had Sevens on the Shore meets, a lot of them were in Houma because of Mark and his health (R.I.P. Mark, hoping you're looking out for us 7 guys during this!); so that may be why you thought I was in Houma.
What plant do you work at, man? My dad is at Waterford 3, but they are obviously not shut down. Have we met? I'm sorry, man, I'm really bad with name/screen names. What's your name? Car?
czarofzar 08-31-2008, 10:23 PM sky, don't ask me why but I still think you live in Vegas. I get you mixed up between tony in Vegas.

I am Jon, I work at the dow plant in taft...my wife works for entergy, but at least with her job in computers we can take off and she can work anywhere with an internet connection. She may be thinking about transferring to waterford 3 down the road a few years, its closer to home than the corporate office spot she's got now.
czarofzar 08-31-2008, 10:43 PM and i thought you were a gun for hire bounty hunter.
clean85owner 08-31-2008, 11:05 PM Just got a text back from a friend of mine that lives in the Quarter:
"I'm in Houma with family."
WTF!?!? She left her place in the Quarter (which will be perfectly fine), and went to where storm surge is expected to be 12-18 feet and the eye will pass over. Shit. I hope she's okay.
skydivr7673 08-31-2008, 11:15 PM and i thought you were a gun for hire bounty hunter.
i am still licensed, but my main paycheck is the plant. the hours are much better and its not as dangerous, plus its a steady income---and quite a good one at that. bail enforcement is a good income too, but you need to roll with the good and the bad a lot more than with a typical "job". the one thing about bail enforcemen is that it ends up taking priority over pretty much your whole life....but man is it a rush when youve been tracking down a real runner for a month and you finally get to the bust.
you dont remember all of markys whining and claiming that I am a part-time plant inspector?
1revnrex 09-01-2008, 10:19 PM 700,000 without power as of 11:00 PM.

Yep. And he runs the video camera for us while the GF and I get freaky. It's helpful.
skydivr7673 09-01-2008, 10:40 PM the power issue is a mess because there's a ton more people than that. two things are wrong with the system--people who are trying to report now that they are without power cannot, because the Entergy reporting system is down. Also, so many people left that many of them dont know if they have power or not--their power is out and they havent reported it yet. When all is done this will be the worst storm down here for power loss. In my town, the whole substation that serves the entire town is now nothing more than a bunch of chunks scattered on the ground so we wont have power for some time...
1revnrex 09-01-2008, 10:52 PM You guys are alright other than that?
wotnartd 09-01-2008, 11:11 PM Yep. And he runs the video camera for us while the GF and I get freaky. It's helpful.
He is such a great cameraman. Exceptional.
He gets that shot, from behind you, between your legs, and my God, does it make my junk look great. Awesome.
It sure seems that the gulf coast is always ill equipped to handle hurricanes. Why don't you move away?
skydivr7673 09-02-2008, 09:38 AM You guys are alright other than that?
yeah, we didnt stay there for this one. even the dog got out lol
It sure seems that the gulf coast is always ill equipped to handle hurricanes. Why don't you move away?
for one thing, i dont rely on someone else's preparations to keep my family safe. and I dont think that anyone else should either.
second, there's something to deal with in this country no matter where you live. tornadoes in the midwest, freezing cold and blizzards up north, earthquakes in california, and hurricanes from Texas to North Carolina. if not this, it will simply be something else. Up north, you get the cold, the ice, the snow most winters. In cali, an earthquake gives you no warning at all, no time to prepare. same is true of tornadoes, they pop up at will with no time to prepare. I;ve had more than enough cold and snow, so that's out. At least with these, we get a week to prepare and get outta dodge before we are in danger.
BATMAN 09-02-2008, 09:44 AM Just move to California.
Waaaay superior weather/climate.
And earthquakes don't happen on a seasonal basis.
skydivr7673 09-02-2008, 04:33 PM they dont have to--hurricanes dont come ashore in LA on a seasonal basis either. most years, nothing happened. but it only takes one to push you and everything around you into the ocean....and even with that one killer hurricane i still have the week to prepare and get to safety. thanks, but no thanks....
1revnrex 09-02-2008, 05:03 PM Hurricanes arent that bad. Move to FL, everyone else does.

Vert8813B 09-02-2008, 06:50 PM Jewish ones at that.

Edit: and dumb rednecks
Vert8813B 09-03-2008, 06:00 AM New York FTW! All we have in New York is Blizzards.
But we got White Castle so it evens out imo.

1revnrex 09-04-2008, 12:02 AM Ike is Cat 4 now and headed towards south FL. WOO!!
clean85owner 09-04-2008, 08:28 PM Well, my power's back up. No real damage here. Just fences/trees down and a few shingles blown away. How'd you do, Sky? Have you had a chance to survey your property yet?
Good luck, mang.
skydivr7673 09-04-2008, 11:37 PM I wont get back home until saturday but family has looked at house and says that all outside is intact, even the shingles stayed put. But now its time to look to next weekend, and see what Ike decides to do....I did hear that in Convent the courthouse building took a major hit--it took everything off of the first floor, left that standing and took off everything else. Was a 2 or 3 story building....our courthouse lost the whole roof too. lots of damage around town, but we got lucky this time.
95whitepep 09-06-2008, 05:26 PM Shit sorry to tell you this, but Ike went west and it looks like it is heading for NO!

2ndGen.Rocket 09-06-2008, 07:20 PM That's one definite plus to being Atlanta. Not a damn thing happens here except for the occasional drought. I'll deal with not being able to wash my car in the driveway instead of having to evacuate my house.
cool_as_crap 09-06-2008, 10:22 PM This is one good thing about CA. Other than the earthquakes, but thats just like peeling off a band aid.
skydivr7673 09-06-2008, 10:25 PM well, atlanta is still in hurricane country, but I guess you guys get luckier than we do, living so close to the shore over here...
