Want a different ip? open ipconfig, release all.
Want to hide it? use anonymous proxies.

I dont know how to change it to a specific one, but since most DSL connections are random, if you shut off the DSL box and turn it back on you will have a different address.

Do it like BATMAN.............. stick with dial-up.

Each time u dial up it changes............. how do u think I got so many names on the rx7club and it was hard for them to detect me.

Release-renew doesn't always work with cable internet connections, if ever. If you want a new IP, from my knowledge, you'll have to either

Unplug the cable modem from the wall for a while, plug it back up and see if the IP has changed.

If that doesn't work, call them and they can change your IP remotely. But they're gonna ask you why you need to change your IP.

Otherwise, you're stuck with that same IP. I've had the same IP with charter for as long as i've had the service. It's easier when I need to access my computer remotely when i'm away.

BTW: Batman you still have dial up?!?! I don't see how you can stomach that kinda slownezz.

yeah it is a pain going from cable back to dial up which i did not too long ago to save some money, but i'm back on cable now. but might be going back again cause charter is just so expensive. if only i could make my own interweb access just for me, not a service for others.

My MSN has accelerator which is faster than the DSL that my friend has.

His DSL must be the slow version.

I like the MSN layout and that is what has kept me around on dial up.

Besides, most of my postings are from work.

At home, I'm usually out biking, dining, clubbing, bars, movies, shopping, hitting the beaches, etc....

Comcast cable is offering $19/month for 4MB for the next 6 months with modem.

That is tempting me, but I don't see much value since I'm not streaming videos.

you have time warner?

some of their plans come with dial up access as a backup incase regular access goes down for a bit.
