the "you tube" vid was highly unimpressive....rolling over a few rocks and logs, big whoop

most of those guys look like they spend more time sucking down beers, the average MX rider would eat them alive
hah!

The guy wearing the Alpinestars gear (Carl Katoch) is the race director of the Erzberg. I guess you've never heard of the Erzberg? Its only the hardest single day enduro on the face of the planet. The goal of the Erzberg organizers it to make it where there are zero finishers. Pastrana and McGrath have one hell of a time even getting close to the finish where as David Knight breezes through with ease.

Watch this one and listen to all the "Top MX riders" talk about how hard this thing is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_9qUqtBG2M

edit: somewhere online there is a 30 or 40 minute video of the Erzberg that actually goes really indepth and follows Pastrana, McGrath, and Knighter through the race and just shows how smooth Knight is and why he can kick so much ass.

of course that can be turned right around...I'd like to see Mr. David Knight at Unadilla competing with the best MX riders in the world, he's probably end up in a hospital or dead

it's totally different style of riding, obviously
true about Knight, but there are others out there that have dominated in the European MX circuit, moved to offroad and dominated there. There aren't many US MX heros that can say that.

Pastrana is trying to do the offroad thing, as are a few old time MX stars (Mouse McCoy to name one) but they have yet to actually win any offroad titles on a bike. IIRC McCoy finished well in a trophy truck.

I love that trials stuff. I have a lot of respect for those guys. So much control is involved with doing that type of stuff. Plus they can make just about anything their playground. Moar please....

you're high

trials/enduro is incredibly dull to watch

That's because you're a moron.

no, it's because I can jump right over your head on any MX track, son
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Different strokes for different folks. You might be interested in this, I've been offered a straight across traid of a YZ250 for my WR250F. Seriously considering it. Brand new zero hour two smoke for my half way decent four stroke that is four weeks old...

what year is the YZ?

the newer 250s are incredible, I just rode a 2002 RM250 last weekend
Its either an 06 holdover or a brand new 07, the dealer didn't mention which. He just mentioned that he would love to have my 250f on the showroom floor after all the work I've put into it (even though its an 06) so he can show people what they are capable of.

Also trying to work a sponsorship deal with this same dealer for the 08 offroad race season :D

Do you ever get tired of boasting about yourself? I'm suprised you haven't drowned yet what with all that bathwater you drink......I am so glad that I'm happy with myself and don't have to tell everyone I meet how big my penis is.:wavey:

And how pray tell is that boot going to get there? What? Are you going to hunt me down and administer a half stack beat down? LOL @ your insecurity....

Who's that MX guy that DOESNT jump the big whoops, he like glides over them sideways, therefore wasting less time in the air and kicking ass? Pretty cool to watch.

Anyway....

it's totally different style of riding, obviously

No shit, but you compared them anyway. Just like comparing streetbike stunters to superbike racers. Each one will dominate on his own track. Apples and oranges. Dick.

sup compared them in the context of "let's take an MX rider and see how he would do climbing over rocks" which of course is absurd

But its fun to see. The thing I find funny is that everyone touts how fit the MX stars are, but they get burned out before the enduro boys at the Erzberg. Two completely different worlds, MX boys train for a single Moto where as Enduro boys train for hours on end and work more on consisitency then all out speed.

Anyhoo, I figured I would call it good with my initial maintanence on this 06 since its going to be traded in and upgraded to an 07 here in a couple months. The next owner can worry about greasing all the swingarm and linkage bearings. I really hope my suspension off the 06 will fit the 07.

so you are getting a new YZ or no?
Most likely going to get a YZ250 two smoke, and a WR250F.

If things work out right, I might get the 250F for free with the agreement that I will race a minimum of 10 enduros and harescrambles in the 08 season. Might change the deal to where I get the 250F at cost and all parts to rebuild it everytime it blows up at cost.

Been reading up on all these little 250's running in enduros, and looks like they need to be rebuilt after every other race otherwise you risk DNFing because of a grenaded motor.

edit: Might just keep the 06 for a spare parts bike, haven't figured it all out yet as things are still in the very basic planning stages. The sponsorship deal was just laid on the table yesterday.

that's interesting...obviously 2 strokes lose compression much faster, but to the point of engine failure?
nah, not the two strokes. Its the four strokes that keep grenading motors. There are a couple guys I've been talking to that race in colorado that have been running the same 250 smoker for two or more seasons. Most people running the 250 four strokes feel lucky to get more then three races out of one if they are pushing it hard.
