Well, as the title says I'm considering doing my last semester (before I start my master's Degree) abroad.

I want to go to an English-speaking country since my English really could need some polishing.. (I have no problem being understood but my pronunciations, my vocabulary and my written English could be better..) I also consider moving to a either USA, Canada or Australia in a few years..

My school has a few partner institutions around the world and going to one of these will save me a lot of money. Therefor my choices are a little limited.

If anyone has any input about the cities/places in which the schools are located it will be greatly appreciated:)
(how it is to live there, will I need a gun for protection, how are the bitches, anything to do there (snowboard, mountain biking etc.) etc.)

My choices are as follows:
Canada
University of Saskatchewan
University of Manitoba
University of Northern British Columbia
University of Regina
Lakehead University
University of Alberta

USA
Augsburg College (Minneapolis)
Augustana College (SIOUX FALLS)
Humboldt State University
University of Alaska, Fairbanks
University of Texas, Austin
South Dakota State University

Australia
Charles Darwin University
Deakin University
University of Western Sydney

I don't know about the university, but Austin is a fucking badass town. Especially if you like music. LOTS of fun to be had there.

Thanks, I will look in to it:)
The university there seems fine, as long as it has some somewhat relevant courses it will be ok.. The most important I will learn from this is better English skills since by then I will have been trough all the relevant academics I need to start on the next degree.

Of all the American schools mentioned, the only one I know anything about really is U of Texas. It'll be hot compared to the arctic circle you currently live in.

Texas is hot?

Just kidding, but I don't think that will be a big problem..

The uni is almost 10times bigger than the one I attend now so finding something to do shouldn't be a problem I guess:p
Did you go there?

Hmm, doesn't sound to bad, at least not when its only one semester.

If those were my options in the US, that's probably the school I would pick.

Thanks for the input, it seems like a good choice..
Have to check out the schools in Canada and Oz first, but I think America would be interesting. Actually most of the Americans I have met have been pretty cool people :) Same goes for Canadians though, and a school in the close vicinity of some alpine slopes would be hard to resist:drool:

+1

The night life there is really nice. You have a wide variety of places to go and things/women to do. No snow.....ever, but there is plenty of outdoorsy stuff to do there. Very bike friendly town also.

Its on the top of my list at the moment:bigthumb:
A little worried after watching the weather statistics though, lots of sun.. My hair will probably turn yellow or white in a month or so:afro:

Australia would be awesome.. And the University of Adelaide seems really nice. However, since I'm pursuing a career in business/finance, USA or Canada would probably look better on a future resume. But I think Australia would be great:yesnod:
Difficult decision...

ive been to the university in sydney and have also been to UT in Austin

sydney is awsome, very nice school, huge city
but i would say Austin is a funner college feel town, VERY clean, plenty to do and a great school for your major

the ONLY advantages i see Sydney having over the US is the beach and a not so stumbling economy

we have better gas prices by far though, and Austin wont require as much driving as Sydney

Thanks :bigthumb: I will try to make this work.. Insane paper process involved...

Is Austin a good base if you want to see more of USA and Mexico? If I go there I will probably travel for about one or two months after the semester has ended (summer holiday in Norway..) plus some short-trips in the weekends.

Why the hell wouldn't you go to Australia?

Western Sydney FTW. After seeing the rest of Australia, Newcastle is kind of a shithole.

Just about the only problem with Sydney is that it's far enough down the coast that it still gets a little cold. If you want skinmelting UV all year long, take somewhere in Queensland :)
