bx7 07-23-2007, 06:54 AM Can a person be saved even if he has a poor understanding of the how the process works? 95whitepep 07-23-2007, 09:36 AM Can a person be saved even if he has a poor understanding of the how the process works? Its through Gods grace we are saved. Only He knows the true complexities of salvation. Do you think that anyone on this earth knew everything about what Jesus was trying to accomplish? At times, not even Jesus knew Himself! bx7 07-23-2007, 12:05 PM I think you can have a very basic understanding, as long as that understanding is based on sound doctrine Let's take a typical catholic for example who may think that his works save him. He believes that he needs to be forgiven of his sin. He asks God to forgive him of his sin and he repents. He trusts that Christ can save him and yet still performs all of the catholic sacraments. He's saved by grace through faith but somehow thinks his works have helped him. honegod 07-23-2007, 12:29 PM since salvation is wholly a gift, wouldn't a requirement for the individual to make the step from ignorance first weaken the gift ? isn't a major chunk of the gift of salvation the removal of the nature blindfold that keeps all people from seeing the goodness of god ? it seems that given the above that salvation could only come to people wholly ignorant of ACTUAL understanding, in that any understanding must be false without the guidance of the holy spirit. honegod 07-25-2007, 08:32 AM Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough? Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth again, the Holy Spirit does not act in an environment of error, which is why those systems are so morally and spiritually bankrupt I dunno, that yeast business sure sounds like he wants us to be reborn in the spirit, casting aside the false pre spirit doctrins that pollute unsaved mans cursed spirit. |
