Time for a new car... need some thing reliable to drive to school next year... heres a few very possible ideas...

Choice #1 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T 5 speed
Choice #2 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Specv 6 speed
Choice #3 2002 Nissan Maxina 3.5 SE 6 speed

pics

Im open to other ideas, but i like the R/T best so far

I guess im kinda getting to that point to, but still want some thing moderatly sporty and fast, but relibality and comfort are nuber 1 right now

it has to be brand new to be reliable? just wondering...u posted all 02 cars...

b4 you take this the wrong way allen, you know you are going to get tired of making a car payment within a year..esp. on nice new cars like you posted....or maybe ur making better at Longhorn than i thought..:)

honestly, a mid 90s honda will do just fine..but thats what i would get...

no more shit bucket stegall?

you're gonna get REALLY tired of a car payment and the insurance to go w/ it. my insurance when i had a ticket on it was $1300/6 months w/ a payment of $316.67/month. it gets REALLY old.

As for the Stratus - It's nice but it's still a Dodge
As for the Spec V - They dyno 145HP. Massive Drivetrain loss

I'd get the Maxima. Has more comfort and power over the other two cars. Just my .02 cent

Don't drive through downtown Saluda at 80mph then. lol

I've already told you this Allen, but I don't like it. It's your decision of course, but I think you would regret it.

It is fwd, I've never driven one, but I bet it's not the best handling car, a dodge...akk, looks like something a true nascar fan would drive, it's the perfect example of a domestic disposable car. Also will it stand up to the Stegall abuse factor? I think you should go import if you want it to hold up to that. What does it have going for it? appearance?, maybe? The front looks aggressive. If that's the only real reason you are considering it I'd keep looking. Might as well get something that has a # of things to offer rather than looks........like reliability for one.

Just my opinion. Don't worry, I'll make fun of you no matter what you get. haha, j/k.

domestic can stand up to abuse just as well just not something aimed to be made into domestic rice... or wheat I guess... anyhow you'd destroy the transaxle or something in NO time

Aspen_2.5RS
07-04-2004, 11:02 PM
Yeah, I agree some domestic stuff can stand up to abuse, but I don't think this is an example. Mustangs and Camaros for the most part are built to take it. This thing looks like something the toothless redneck in her late 30's or 40's would drive with her woman mullet flapping in the wind.

It comes with 13 built in car seats and a trailer hitch.

Dodge's slogan is "HIT IT". They really take that to heart. Maybe they should change it to "HIT IT WITH PROTECTION"

The entire Chrysler line has had tranny problems across the board. I'm not sure if the manual ones are affected, but even still, they aren't the most reliable of cars and haven't been for the past 20 years.

I hate to influence ppl's decisions about what they want, but I really would not buy a Dodge Stratus. Just the bare fact that it's a FWD Dodge is enough for me to say no.

Just my .02 cent....

"hit it with a slowness"

Stegall
07-05-2004, 01:25 AM
hmmm

i like the car because its comfortable, looks good in my oponion, decently fast, fun to drive.

no its not a corner carver.... or a 11 sec rx7.... but it'll get me around in comfort, and it has a warrenty...

as for Tibbys blah blah about car payments and insurance, lets not forget I was paying over 200 a month on the 240, PLUS 427 a month for insurance. Insuance and carpayment is nothing new to me..... also, im not gonna be resposible for insurance on this car. Just the payment.

Also im making the most money ive ever made right now.
im tired of driving old cars.

no mater what kidna old car it is, conquest of honda, and now matter who drives it, Allen or Old Man Mark, its GOING to have problems. little shit here and there, and thats mainly how my quest as been. one small thing after another... a/c dosnt work... and then theres the fact that mitsu engineers were high on crack when they designed the car, but thats beside the point. Its time for a nice low milage car.

Cosby

My dad told me to buy a sensible reliable car and he would handel insurance.

I think i've paid my fair share of insurance and carpayments.
Maybe if i'm lucky I can talk Chelsea into modifying it for me.

you think our parents, after a few years of house payment, say to themselves "ahh, ive had my share of house payments, i think well just forget about that"...nah. doesnt work like that..its all in responsibility...but if your dad wants it that way..good luck...and as for cheslea buying you modifications, it will be great if she does...but only if you pay her back for every penny..sorta like Mark does..

Allen, if you have your heart set on one of those 3 vehicles, i would go with the Maxima. i have a friend who went 13.1@107mph ALL MOTOR with a 6 speed on 22 inch slicks. Click here for 13.1 second Maxima (http://www.forumco.com/undergroundracing/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2173&FORUM_ID=11&CAT_ID=1&Topic_Title=maxima%2E%2E%2E%2E%2E%2E&Forum_Title=Street+Smack)

The Maxima IMO has been proven to handle quite a bit of power, be it turbo, S/C or N20. It has 4 doors and is a beautiful car. I would get the Maxima. Plus, i think it's resale value may be higher than the Stratty when it comes time to sell. Just my .02

Incidently, the link i provided is the Maxima that i raced from a 45 roll the following weekend after he posted those times. From a 45 roll i put about 2 cars on him.

BUT, my RX-7 is slow and loses to stock 5.0s LOL :dunno:
