aren't most snowmobile manufacturers going to four stroke, like everything else?

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelhome/427/0/home.aspx

basically an R1 engine transplant in that sled....looks like huge fun, though...sometimes I do miss the snow
the thing with sleds... power to weight.

Yeah, the Yamaha RX1 and Apex are bad ass sleds, but they are tanks. The problem I see with them is burying it in the powder, you will be stuck until spring time because there is no way you are lifting that front end out of the deep fluffy.

Twosmokes are still alive and well in the snowmobile industry, they are actually burning cleaner now then a lot of four strokes out there. Hell, Ski-Doo (Bombardier) has some kick ass clean fire injection tech, as does Polaris.

anyhoo, 750 HP fourstroke sled:

the guy wears a bulletproof vest when riding it just incase it grenades on him.

fairly narrow expansion chamber....looks like it's designed for midrangeyou see very few pipes for twins that are designed for top end, the whole point of the shift from the triple to the twin was the torque. you put narrow pipes on em, and you lose all your torque.

hell, the new 600 H.O. from polaris has been proven reliable up to 727 cc overbore pushing 157hp & 95.something ft/lbs of torque.

I'm going to try and get my sled on a chasis dyno here this spring when I'm done with it, but the numbers are right now looking to be in the high 100's, might break 200 if I go with a boondockers nitrous kit :worship:

I own an RD350 (its the street bike that the banshee motor came from) and its a blast to rip around on.

BUT.... i've ridden several worked out RZ500's over at my buddys house.. and thats one step short of strapping a rocket to your ass!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy looks like an old amishman, but in his garage he has 5 RZ500's about 10 RD350s, a couple RZ350s, TWO suzuki Gamma's, and a Honda NSR....

He figured out how to import them to the US from Canada and make BIG MONEY reselling them... the dick!
