driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 12:58 PM So here are a couple pics of my other project besides the FC, an 84 toyota xtra cab. Its got a custom spring pack up front based off 2wd pickup rear springs with some added. The rear is a triangulated 3-link with 1/4 elliptical springs. I hope to get the rear finnished and the truck rolling this weekend. Its on 35s in the pic but i will have a set of 39s here soon, and I may end up doing a 3-link on the front if they need more room.
Heres some specs:
-dual t-cases, 4.7 gears in the rear case
-5.29 gears
-rear spool, front open for now, 39s kill stock birfields and shafts, need chromolly.
-22re with cam, header, intake
-exo cage once bender dies arrive, ordered yesterday
-enough of a tube bed for fuel cell, tool box, air tank and spare tire
-AC pump converted to air compressor for airing up tires, and air tools for trail fixes.
What do u all think of it?
jhammons01 10-05-2007, 01:24 PM Damn dude, I take it you have a 45 piece socket set.....
driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 01:32 PM no, just a hack saw and a 10 piece wal-mart end wrench set...
Richter12x2 10-05-2007, 01:37 PM I don't even know where to begin to make that handle. :D
driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 01:44 PM I don't even know where to begin to make that handle. :D
It wont :bigthumb:
My original plan was just a simple lift and start DDing it, but I had the parts to link it and got crazy with the sawz all so now I dont even think I will drive it on the road. At least not the highway.
Richter12x2 10-05-2007, 02:21 PM How many people have to stand on the rails to get the back wheels to touch the ground? :D
driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 02:29 PM lol, it is a bit ass light at the moment. There will be a fuel cell, tool box, spare 39 swamper, air tank and some tubing to ballance it out. The front axle is also 5-6" forward so that helps a bit too.
Richter12x2 10-05-2007, 02:51 PM I still think if I were going offroading I'd be awesome, I'd get a $300 Geo Metro with two of those trailer winches and I'd go EVERYWHERE. :D Heck, you could pull it up the side of a building!
driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 02:57 PM lol, 80s subarus are kick ass too, some even had 2wd, 4wd and 4lo. My buddy had one and it went everywhere. Esp. after we turbo'd it, then it spun a bearing and siezed. But we did manage 15psi with stock internals, ecu and injectors!
Richter12x2 10-05-2007, 03:02 PM Or you could be REALLY bizarre and rock an old AMC Eagle. :D
driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 03:16 PM The guy that had the subie, his dad had an Eagle. We drove it one day after it sat for a while and one of the tires was low and weathered so it squeeled in turns like it was burning out, something was burning off the exhaust smoking alot and smelled awfull. Everyone on the road was lookin at us, it was pretty funny shit.
Richter12x2 10-05-2007, 03:17 PM That's when you find an old Vanilla Ice tape, roll down the windows and blast that shit. :D
driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 03:23 PM i think a 5.0 vert would suit that song a little better.
Cruzin round town in my 5.0
rag top down so my hair can blow...
speakin of that douche, you know he tried his had at a metal album and did a remake of that song, i think it was called too cold. its hillarious.
Richter12x2 10-05-2007, 03:29 PM Yeah, it was the EXACT same song, only he tried to growl it or something. :P I wish I didn't hear those 15 seconds of it before I changed the station on the radio.
driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 03:35 PM lol, they actually played that on the radio? I hardly ever listen to radio anymore unless its classic rock. I cant stand the pop music they play now days, too much image not enough tallent.
Richter12x2 10-05-2007, 03:38 PM Sadly yes - I usually listen to my mp3 cd's, but occasionally I'll dip out to hear some new stuff, every once in a while there is a nugget of win-dom.
driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 03:44 PM same here, but the cd player i just got from a buddy, eclipse mp3 deck, suddenly stopped working. It turns on then off repeatedly on its own. Im hoping its just a wiring issue, I hate driving without music.
