ChevyMuscle 11-01-2004, 05:03 PM i've been supporting this and learning about this since i learned about it in high school many years ago. now its a big issue, and will only get bigger, and will eventually pass anyways. but here's an article that outlines fairly what this is all about http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=34039 N1XRR 11-01-2004, 07:20 PM i've been supporting this and learning about this since i learned about it in high school many years ago. now its a big issue, and will only get bigger, and will eventually pass anyways. but here's an article that outlines fairly what this is all about http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=34039 So...I take it this wasn't passed...as that article is from last year. ChevyMuscle 11-01-2004, 07:43 PM the bill has been undergoing improvement several years, its about ready to be seriously considered in the house and senate... but it hasnt gone through yet HTM Impreza WRX 11-02-2004, 08:45 AM i also am all for the tax increase...i think it's a great idea. i learned of it a few years ago....i dont' see a reason it wouldn't pass rxtasy 11-02-2004, 10:56 AM but what u don't realize is that u'll actually be paying more in sales tax over the course of a year than what would have been taken in income and property taxes. some of us look forward to and need those refund checks at the end of the year. without paying income taxes, i'd never gotten a refund check back in 2002 for a mistake on a return during an audit on my '97 filing. i recieved a check for little over $5500 which included interest. at the time, that was some very needed money. after reading the article, we'll just have to see if these goods and services really do drop in price as much as they say they will. ChevyMuscle 11-02-2004, 11:16 AM "Are you sure? Under Demint's plan, I would have to spend $600 MORE per month than I do now to equal what I pay out in income taxes now. That new plan also does away with many taxes that are in place on manufacturers and that should LOWER the cost of production which should translate into lower prices on goods. Also, the income tax is un-constitutional and we give way too much power to an agency that lines it's own pockets by taking from us." --quoted from a family man in charleston... and its true ChevyMuscle 11-02-2004, 11:22 AM also, this system will get rid of the people that pay under the table and those who dont pay taxes. now they would have no choice but to pay taxes, si seņor? HTM Impreza WRX 11-02-2004, 12:25 PM the adment that started income taxes never had a hearing...that's why a bunch of people protested by not paying and was put in jail SpartanTS 11-02-2004, 07:14 PM Conservatives like this idea of a flat federal income tax because it is indeed regressive and shifts the burden of the tax system to the poorest in society. That's why they have been pushing this idea of a "flat" tax, for nearly 20 years. Both Liberal Democrats and Liberal Republicans understand this. I doubt this will ever pass. It makes sense, yet it makes no sense. JPAccord 11-02-2004, 08:09 PM that blows for all of us under 18, we have very little deductions on checks as of now, so 23% would kill us. 91lx 11-02-2004, 08:52 PM true. sux if you rent a house but sorta sux less if u own b/c u know your renter wont have to pay property tax anymore but wont pass the savings onto you. deep6 11-02-2004, 08:58 PM no property tax in NY would rock my parent's old house was bigger than the new one here, but this one cost twice a much NY sucks don't ever move here ChevyMuscle 11-03-2004, 02:00 AM the poor in society will receive monthly checks giving money back... the poor have not been forgotten ChevyMuscle 11-03-2004, 02:00 AM http://www.fairtaxvolunteer.org/materials/comparison.html here's a good comparison of the tax systems |
