How To Turn Your Car Into The Batmobile By - Jacky-O

In our society, there comes a time in almost every man's life when he purchases his very first vehicle. There also comes a time in every man's life when he watches the original Batman movie (And if there isn't, there damn well should be). And after seeing Batman, every single man wishes that he could drive the Batmobile. We all wish that the vehicle parked out in the driveway was as cool as Batman's. However, the only time any one of us will ever get a chance to drive the Batmobile is when a new Batman movie comes out and Lays potatoe chips has a contest where you have a chance to win Batman's sweet ride. Well, needless to say, after the abomination that was Batman and Robin was released, we probably won't be seeing any new Batman movies for a while.

What does mean for the vast majority of us? Does this mean we will never realize our lifelong dream of piloting the Batmobile at high speeds through the slums of our respective cities? Does it mean that we will never get to experience the thrill of having two machine guns pop out of the hood to shoot a hole through a steel wall? Does it mean that we will never feel the sensation of getting whiplash as the afterburner in the back kicks in? Of course it doesn't! Thankfully, I'm here once again to help you achieve these goals... by providing you with a blueprint to modify your existing vehicle into a replication of the Batmobile!

Turn Your Car Into This!

First things first, you need to have a car. Almost any car will do as long as it has brakes, tires, and functional steering abilities. For the purposes of this article, I will be demonstrating on my own car, the likes of which is pictured below. Note that I will not actually be performing any actions on the actual vehicle, so the figures used in this article are artists renderings only.

As you can see, I have a Mustang. The colour scheme is all wrong, but that doesn't matter right now. The first thing we need to do is modify the appearance slightly. We must add a fin to the roof of this bad boy, which serves two purposes : 1.) Makes our more closely resemble the Batmobile, and 2.) Improves our car's aerodynamics for when we're cruising at high speeds. Optionally, you can place fins horizontally on the side of the car. See the photo for an example.

The next thing that has to be done is to paint the Bat Symbol on the side of the car. This is purely cosmetic and is simply for all the people out there who are stupid and may not realize that this is supposed to be the Batmobile. If it's got the Bat symbol on the side, it's GOT to be the caped crusader himself, right? Right. You should notice that your Batmobile is starting to take shape quite nicely.

Next, we mount some machine guns onto the hood of the car. Positioning is important as you dont want the machine guns imparing your vision as you are cruising around town. If you are really ambitious, you can rig up the machine guns to pop out of the fenders. However, I really like the Mad Max-ish appeal of having two big honkin' machines guns strapped right to the hood of my Batmobile. Firing the machine guns is another matter. A good idea is to rig up some strings to the triggers, which then lead into the car. When you want to shoot, just pull the strings and have at her!

Since this is the Batmobile, it should have numerous handy dandy gadgets. What these gadgets are is anybody's guess, so you can pretty much add any sort of special functions you want to your replica Batmobile. Since I live in Canada where the winter's are cold and last for approximately 95% of the year, I've decided to install a snow plow to the front of my Batmobile. You never know when you'll need a snowplow to clear off a skating rink for some kids or to clear some roads. In addition, it'll block any bullets that are fired at your Batmobile (from the front). Note: If you should decide to install a snowplow on your Batmobile, you should take care to ensure that the machine guns shoot over top of the snowplow.

Next, you'll need a means of propulsion. To hell with the measly 190-horsepower engine that currently resides in my Mustang and governs out at 185 Km/h. Sure that's good to get the ball rolling, but for those REALLY high speed chases, you'll have to strap a jet turbine engine onto the back, as shown in the picture. Notice the flame effect I've added to show you that it will go really fast. Getting the jet engine to stay on the back of your car is your problem. I suggest using ropes. Or twine.

May I suggest some more weapons? You've already got the machine guns, but what about if someone is tailing you? You've got to get them off your tail, correct? That's where an oil-slick dispenser comes in handy. It is always a good idea to store a barrel full of oil in your trunk. The push of a button will drop a patch of oil on the road. Watch the vehicles driven by your enemies swerve comically all over the road before bursting into flames! Who cares if this type of weapon is damaging to the environment... let Greenpeace worry about that! Also, I figure that a huge cannon on the top would look pretty sharp. You know, in case you encounter any planes you need to shoot down.

Now, you're probably asking yourself this: "If I'm cruising down the highway doing mach 1, how in hell am I supposed to survive a crash?" That's a good question, and I have thought of this as well. Remember in Batman, how the canopy slid shut over the cockpit, kind of like a convertible? Your Batmobile will be somewhat similar to that. You'll have to cut the roof off of your car and install an ejection system, just like in a jet. In the event of a collision, the entire roof will shoot off and your seat will eject into the air in less time than it takes to blink. From there you'll parachute safely to the ground. Hopefully it will never come to that, but sometimes shit happens. See the picture for more clarification. And just hope that you never are involved in an accident inside of a tunnel.

Your Batmobile is just about complete as we've covered most of the necessities that you need on your car. It doesn't have to stop there, though. You can add any amount of optional components. Maybe you want to have a robotic arm that shoots out of the bumper to nab unsuspecting criminals in the act. Or maybe you want to install some hydraulic shocks and have your Batmobile bounce around while you are listening to Snoop Dogg. It's really up to you.

Finally, you need to colour your Batmobile black. Having a white one like in the picture just doesn't cut it. Whoever heard of a white Batmobile? Or a red or blue one for that matte!. A can of spray paint should do the trick.

http://www.weaintcool.com/pictures/articles/batmobile/batpic11.jpg

Now that you have your Batmobile completed, what can you do with it? Here's a listing of some of the potential activities you can do with your replica Batmobile:

- Get a buddy, dress up as Batman and Robin, and then just cruise around town.
- Use your Batmobile to run ususpecting motorists off of the road.
- Engage in a crimefighting spree, with the Batmobile as your main tool of justice!
- Set the record for highest speed through a school zone.
- Try to impress chicks with your badass ride.
- Get sponsorships and place ads all over your Batmobile. Let everyone knows that Batman uses Tide!
- Charge young children 50 bucks a piece to go for a ride.

So there you have it. Don't let your dreams of being like the caped crusader go down the toilet! Get to it!

Something about that pic just don't look real, like the car and the background where originally seperate pics. And it's missing a center cap on the rear wheel.

if you look at the shadow from the telephone pole and the tires they appear to be the same but the shadows on the car look different. Its hard to say though b/c it appears to be in the evening.

I assure you, the car is real. Don't let my using a flash during dusk combined with adjusting contrast in PhotoShop fool you. This is a 1978 Corvette Special Edition brought back from the dead and resurrected using fiberglass and high density materials. One of the modules of the international space station is even involved, but I can't comment further.
