The family of a Brazilian man shot dead by armed police officers at a London subway station say they are considering legal action. Jean Charles de Menezes, 27, was killed in the aftermath of last Thursday's attempted bombings of the London transit system. However police later said Menezes "was not connected" with the attacks.

His family was upset and angry over the death, and he challenged police statements that Menezes failed to obey orders, and jumped a ticket barrier.

I say, too bad. If u elect to run from cops in England with guns, some of them Submachine guns in a recent aftermath of the London bombings, tooooo bad for getting lead in the head.

Anyway, if someone is acting suspicious/looks suspicious and they do not respond to treats, then the police can`t take any chanses imho.

They are now assigning undercover marksmen around in London, theyre orders are to shoot potential terrorist`s in the head.

I think it was too bad he wasn't a terrorist. But I think if you have a tan and you're around mass transit you need to bend over and grab your ankles if a cop makes eye contact with you.

I dunno, something about pinning a guy down and then shooting him five times in the head and back doesn't sit well with me.

I understand that the police believed he had a bomb that could be detonated at any time, but the brutality of summarily executing someone while holding him to the ground in a public place is sickening.

I don't know if the police could have done anything different, except perhaps wear uniforms. The assumption is that the guy in question thought he was being robbed, because the police officers who gunned him down were in plainclothes. Armed robbery of that style is common in Brazil, which explains why he ran.

Shitty situation all around. I suspect the cop who had to shoot him is probably fucked right up because of it.

If he would have had the bomb, and they wouldn't have shot him and blew up more shit, then wouldn't we be bitchin about that?

^Yes. Everyone is a little edgy over there I'd imagine. Just as it is in some metro areas here. Same as in Egypt.

It's not fun when militant fruitballs go around blowing up subways, hotels and ramming cars with explosives at kids.. It makes security folks get a little edgy.

I hate to say it, but since the warzone is in the mainstreet, collateral damagage in the form of innocent lives will be more commonplace.

I think the worst thing to come from this will be the fact that cops will hesitate when they need to shoot someone.

Now don't get me wrong if a bunch of cops did this to someone important to me I would have to go *PIKE CO. KY* on them and send them to there maker a loser.

Its sad that the kids dead but hey... freeze means freeze.

British police don't say 'freeze', they say 'stop'. And plainclothes cops look like anyone else chasing you telling you to stop. He saw some guys chasing him, guns drawn, and ran.

My co-worker is very familiar w/ that area of town where he was in. Basically, in a certain part of London...there is a large community of apartment complexes. Not just a building or two, but think...an entire neighborhood.

This area of town is somewhat sketchy as is. And she said that often times, there is no real paperwork for who real rents out a certain apartment. People come and go as they please. That is why all of these Middle Eastern terrorists have been able to hide out in London. She has said that there have been situations where the owner of an apartment has died in that unit. Well, someone will come in and live in there while the body is still there!!!! And when people question it,...they merely say that person is their aunt/uncle or something. And no one questions it!!!!!!! Weird when I first heard about it!
