Oh yeah, I'm so giddy I just had to tell you about it. My car project from hell is finally streetable. I spent the past 10 hours with a soldering iron, heatshrink tubing, crimps, and a multimeter finishing up the wiring to the headlights, blinkers, even WINDSHIELD WIPERS!
It's great. And the sheer volume of TORQUE all over the rpm range is like pure drugs! It's so much better than I ever expected. It sounds like a pissed off fox body but looks like a porsche. Sorry I need to get a video cam.
So yeah, whew, what a love/hate relationship with this car. But now I can drive it around and it seriously puts out.

This is the best I got, from a few months ago before going back to prison (engineering school)

looks lower and further back than most. Maybe the ugliest color ive ever seen. Wouldn't cite the porsche on looks.

Hey, what do you think of those header inserts?
A worthwhile purchase?
Thanks.
The car chemistry 3 disk inserts seem to help quiet down the exhaust but I don't know what effect they have on an individual basis, because I installed them with Moroso spiral flow resonators and Dynomax HD superturbo mufflers all at the same time. The exhaust is left over from the rotary (I wanted something quiet but with a true long primary header setup and low restriction).
I used cardboard for the mold when making the bumper ducting and front shape, and some of it left its shape and top skin in the fiberglass.
The TFS intake was around 350 on ebay. I bought it from someone with tainted feedback so I got it cheaper than the going rate. It had a 1/4" phenolic spacer already. :)
And 4th gear is FAST. I used a ~44oz flywheel which is too heavy. The first three gears are really held back by the rotational inertia. 4th gear is insane. I was about a tenth of a g away from catching air on this dip in a back road I like to cruise on, while winding it out today. I think I could actually get to the top of 4th at the end of the quarter mile with the stock 92 mustang T5 and 4.11 TII rear end gears.
There's not enough road out there to really open this thing up on. :D

Congrats.
How many zip ties? :D
Thanks.
I think I'm up to five or six packs of them by now. I tend to redo everything a few times so not many of them stay there very long.
The car gets a different kind of attention now. It's hot rodders and muscle car types that like to come over and tell me about their project cars when they see this thing. Before it was rotards and ricers.
Although, a parts counter guy at the local store claimed that "his friend with a third gen, who is doing an LS2 swap" is "going to sell" him the rotary for his second gen and it will "push" 450hp after he installs a single turbo. It's just no use trying to educate certain people. :( I've decided to let them be.
