Blotto 06-20-2006, 11:02 AM I am currently in VA and looking into buying my first gun. Is there any kind of waiting period or something or can I just go into a gun store and get one? I know I can't get a handgun until I am 21 but i'm wondering about rifles. Say No To Pistons 06-20-2006, 11:29 AM google it. google answers every question on earth. Brokenone 06-20-2006, 06:22 PM I'm pretty sure there is a two week waiting period for handguns here, as for rifles, shotguns and muzzle loaders you just need to pass a background check and be at least 18 to buy it. On a side note, I started to go by and look at a few handguns today after work but didn't make it to the store in time. jdun 06-20-2006, 11:18 PM There is no waiting period in Va. Va is a southern state after all and home of the NRA. The state is control by Republican now. It is also a conceal carry state. All you need for conceal carry is to pass a simple two-hour class. It is a shall issue state. You can bypass the class if you’re in the military. Open carry is legal and you do not need a permit. There is a one handgun a month policy unless you have a conceal carry permit. This law was passed when VA was controlled by liberal democrats. We are trying to overturn this law BTW. If you’re in the Hampton Roads/VA Beach area let me know. For rifle 18 years are older. |
