Try hachiroku.net/forums, they're more PacNorWest, but there are some other random members.

Though I dare say if you're already planning on turboing it, I wouldn't go for an 86, I'd get either an FC or a 240SX. Good Corolla GT-Ss are *way* overpriced right now, and you won't be happy with an SR-5, especially if your plan is a drift car. I'd expect to pay about $1500 for a clean SR5, $2500 for a beat GTS, and $4K+ for a good, clean GTS with an LSD.

You know, there are a lot of RWD cars good for drifting.

yeah not wantin to pay that much for one. Theres a 87 gt in paper for 800.00 but its in columbia. needs everything though. Im thinking of just beasting it out with a big ass engine if I cant find a good 4 cyl. I thought about checkin in with a supra engine! lol big ass engine big ass turbo.

Wait, you'd rather do a complete drivetrain swap on an $800 chassis that can barely hold 150hp, then just get a Supra or a FC?

Do you have any concept of the amount of work you're going to have to do to make that work?

You're talking about replacing the engine, transmission, driveshaft, axle assembly, fuel tank, wiring harness, moving the radiator, and adding a metric crapload of chassis bracing.

To do it right, the parts alone will cost you more than a Mk III Supra Turbo.

If you're still insisting on this project, go to hachiroku.net, and read up on the engine swaps. Then post your idea, and listen to what people who've done it have to say, and especially the cost.

If you want a cheap drift machine, trust me when I say go find an N/A FC. You can pick up a fairly clean one for under a grand, and then when you have the money, do a *good* rebuild on the 13B. You'll end up with the same 50/50 weight balance, only now in a chassis that was designed for the power you want to put in it.

Actually if you want a good drift machine, pick up an 80's Fox Body Mustang with a V8 and put some money in the suspension. Solid rear axles mean it should drift just like a AE86. They even look alike. :D

Another good site that's dedicated to old toyotas (mainly AE86's) is www.dorikaze.com
