CALLER: Hey, Glenn, thanks for taking my call. I just wanted to know, Friday you asked us to pray for Marcus and I was just seeing if you had an update today on what's going on with him.
GLENN: Yes, I do. Yes, I do. Marcus Luttrell is the lone survivor. He was part of the SEAL team. It was the biggest battle any SEAL in SEAL history. He was the only survivor. He lost his whole team. He was then taken by Al Qaeda and the Taliban and he was tortured beyond your wildest imagination and there they held him for a while. He's been sick. He still hasn't recovered from all of the things that they did to him and so he just has he's always in for his back and surgery and everything else.
On Thursday I believe it was, Wednesday or Thursday about 1:00 a.m., Marcus is a guy who doesn't sleep anymore at night. He sleeps during the daytime. And about 1:00 he happened to be awake and he heard a gunshot. He lives on a ranch with his mother in Texas. He grabs his gun and he goes outside. There he sees, I believe it was four. It may be three but I believe it was four young men 18 to 24 years old, all of them, where they had just shot his dog. Marcus' dog is named Dasy. Each letter represents D A S Y represents one of the fallen members of his team. It was given to him in recovery to help him through the recovery process. This dog means everything to Marcus. Marcus had his gun and he took it out and he put it right between the eyes of one of the guys. He was standing away from them, pointed right between the eyes. Now, here's a SEAL team member who is wildly, he's just, he is having trouble, man. He is still recovering from his injuries. He had just gotten out of surgery. He's standing there with a gun between the guy's eyes. He doesn't fire. All four and he's just saying, "You killed my dog." They executed his dog. "You killed my dog. Why would you do that?" They run. They get into his car. Marcus gets into his truck, chases them over four counties, finally runs them into a ditch. He calls the Rangers. The Texas Rangers arrive and these guys, when the Texas Rangers are taking these guys away, Marcus has held them there by a gun. As the Rangers are taking these guys away, they're threatening Marcus' life and saying, "When we get out, we're coming for you next. First it was your dog. It's going to be you next. You don't know who you're messin' with." That's when Marcus kind of snapped just a little bit and said to the Ranger, "Excuse me, ranger, do you know who I am?" He said, "Yes, sir, Mr. Luttrell, I do." He said, "You might want to explain to these punks because I could have killed them 600 different ways and if I wanted to kill you guys after what you would have done what you just did to my dog, I would have pulled you down into my basement and I would have tortured you for days and you wouldn't have died until you begged me for death. So before you start saying you're going to come after me, you better learn who you've just whose dog you just killed."

"we're coming for you next"... if they wanted him, why were they running from him??
wonner 04-07-2009, 09:43 AM I'd like to see them go back after him...Lil Mike looks pretty tough.
$100T2 04-07-2009, 10:00 AM Did you guys watch the interview? He was so matter of fact: "I was coming around the front so I could shoot the driver..." in the same tone of voice as I would say, "Hey honey, I'm gonna stop and gas up the car."
I wouldn't fuck with that guy.
czarofzar 04-07-2009, 10:32 AM Ford?

You dont fuck with a SEAL period. I almost hope they try some shit so they can see how easy they can be dealt with.
Fendamonky 04-07-2009, 04:06 PM That pisses me off! I'd hunt them.
People seem to forget that humans are animals too... I think of most humans as house pets, instead of wild animals. Sometimes we go feral though, don't fuck with feral humans!
I have no problem putting animals down when they need it.
czarofzar 04-07-2009, 05:19 PM Not funny.
Fendamonky 04-07-2009, 05:45 PM Most of the guys that really, really, really are badasses don't go running around trying to prove how much of a hardass they are.
Something tells me that guy truly is hardcore. He has probably done/seen shit that would traumatize "normal" Americans if they only experienced a fraction of it, and now is just trying to move on with his life.
I disagree with your theory czar.
1revnrex 04-07-2009, 06:25 PM Not funny.
Police said the beaners were running around contributing to socie... err I mean shooting other peoples dogs too.
Really, who the fuck rides around shooting dogs for fun?
Steel 04-07-2009, 06:33 PM No offense czar, but this guy is a badass. As his team was dying, he'd been shot, surrounded by taliban. I wouldn't fuck with ANY SEAL, but this one is battle hardened. Read his account of what happened. It's not pretty. If they had done this earlier in his recovery, he probably WOULD have killed them, and he would have been justified too. At least *I* wouldn't have convicted him if I was on the jury. Armed intruders, that fired on his property, killing his dog. Textbook case of castle doctrine, especially Texas.
Herschel 04-07-2009, 06:39 PM Wow..........What amazing restraint that guy has. Seriously, I am amazed that he didn't rip them limb from limb. I really hope that they do come back and try to fuck with him. Four less morons in the world is ok by me........Poor guy though......TFL should buy him a puppy......
Misty Rayne 04-07-2009, 06:41 PM that is fucked up and rev i know people who swerve to hit dogs and cats on the road so it doesn't surprise me that fuck heads would go around shooting dogs for fun.
and no there aint no way i'd fuck with a SEAL let alone any vet those people are fucken crazy through no fault of their own

+1
skydivr7673 04-07-2009, 11:10 PM Well, he wasnt tortured, because he wasnt captured. He was badly wounded, but still managed to travel something like 8 miles over hard terrain to evade capture. There is simply no quit in this man. A total of 11 SEALs died that day, the three from his detail and 8 more who were killed in a helo that was shot down while trying to reach the team.
The real stink of it was the way things played out. During their recon, they came across some goat herders. Being civilians, the decision was made to let them go instead of killing them. From personal experience, I can tell you that this is a hard choice--letting them go means potentially compromising your position to hostiles. And thats exactly what happened here--they let the civvies go, and those civvies promptly informed taliban fighters that US soldiers were in the area. Within an hour, the team came under heavy fire. Their decision to let the civvies live is what in turn cost them their lives.
All the more reason why I always preferred direct action raids to sneak n' peek trips like this one.
And no misty, we arent crazy. We are trained. There's a big difference. You would stand a much better chance against someone who is just crazy than you would against someone who is trained. If he were crazy, he wouldnt have called the rangers on these guys, he would have eaten their livers for breakfast with a side of hash browns and went on about his day.

I don't want any more jokes in this thread. Keep it respectful, this guy fought for your freedom.
czarofzar 04-07-2009, 11:14 PM opinion
that is all
czarofzar 04-07-2009, 11:27 PM I am appalled that my statement was treated as a joke and removed. Looks like I have to rewrite to soften the butt hurt.
In my experience, you are only reading half the story, ok? you get that, right? So therefore it is my opinion that this guy called attention to these Mexicans who also turned out to be people who you don't fuck with also. And so I inserted a possible scenario of this fella who (This is where I soften the butthurt) protected our country, who witnessed brothers died on the alter of freedom, and whom I can never repay the dept he sacrificed, could have shot his mouth off. The idiots came for the dog instead and spared the mans life. he should be grateful.
That is no joke. It is possible. here is a tissue. quit nazi modding
1revnrex 04-07-2009, 11:38 PM Thats all fine and dandy but according to the police this isnt the first dog these guys shot that night.
czarofzar 04-07-2009, 11:50 PM i just read that. oh well. i buried two mature dogs and a puppy, 5 lizards and a turtle in my life time and I served my country as well. maybe thats why I am confused of all the fuss. So the lesson here is 'Never bottle your trauma on living things like a pet. when it dies, that shit will resurface'.

wow, way to try to rewrite history....nevermind the fact that the entire incident has been laid out, and that these guys killed other dogs before they found their way to his. I suppose that ALL those other dog owners pissed off these guys?
Good going, czar--why let mere facts stand in the way of your need to think you know it all?? It isnt even about the fact that this man served our country--SEALS forget more about restraint in these kinds of situations than you ever learned. As proven by the fact that even when they were firing a weapon on his property(which gives him legal standing in TX to return fire, no questions asked), he still did not pull the trigger. He reportedly had no contact with the shooters until they were on his property at 1 in the morning killing his dog.....so much for your "its possible".....
czarofzar 04-07-2009, 11:55 PM I have no use to be proven right in this case. remember, I stated an opinion from years of enduring half stories.
Misty Rayne 04-08-2009, 12:33 AM Sky what i meant was that it has been my expereince with most people who have gone off to war wether young or old is that alot of them don't come back "right" or "normal" for a better word, which is why i'd never fuck with a vet cos o wouldn't want them to really truley snap
1revnrex 04-08-2009, 12:34 AM Lets not turn this into an argument, its been so nice on this forum lately.

Screw you buddy.......
Seriously though......I feel really bad for this guy........I wanna buy him a puppy.....
Fendamonky 04-08-2009, 05:47 AM Sky what i meant was that it has been my expereince with most people who have gone off to war wether young or old is that alot of them don't come back "right" or "normal" for a better word, which is why i'd never fuck with a vet cos o wouldn't want them to really truley snap
What is "normal" in all honesty? Changed, yeah, definitely. Permanently not right or abnormal... I'm not convinced on, anymore. A lot of the things which went un-noticed, or uncared for in the past generations are expected, seen, and treated now. Kinda like his dog, it was a tool for his recovery.
I'll agree whole-heartedly that people who have been deployed to a combat theater, or been engaged in combat first hand come home different from when they left. However, given recovery time and correct treatment it's totally possible to re-assimilate into "normal" life. Just don't fuck with somebody when the claustrophobia, mood-swings, unexplainable rage, slight paranoia, etc, are still present. It may take a little time, and the memories/lessons remain, but recovery def is possible and happens.
Sky, please correct me if I'm wrong.
czarofzar 04-08-2009, 06:53 AM Sky, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I didn't realize your name was Sky... thanks for shedding your wisdom though
incoming.....
lmao... czar made me laugh for the first time ever.
Oh.. and funding, for what? "My dog got shot" "IT'LL BE A GREAT IDEA TO GIVE HIM MONEY"... that's fucking stupid.
czarofzar 04-08-2009, 05:37 PM A man gets lucky once in a while
$100T2 04-12-2009, 08:58 PM I just read Marcus Luttrell's book "Lone Survivor".
Holy fucking shit. I knew SEALs were bad-ass, and the few I bumped into in the Navy were pretty damn cool, but man, these 4 guys kept fighting after being shot multiple times. If you haven't read the book, I recommend it highly.
From reading the book, these punks are truly, truly lucky he didn't kill them.
skydivr7673 04-12-2009, 11:22 PM What is "normal" in all honesty? Changed, yeah, definitely. Permanently not right or abnormal... I'm not convinced on, anymore. Is it possible? Yes, I suppose it is. Is it likely that someone will "re-assimilate"? Maybe so, but only to a certain degree. There are thoughts I wont ever get rid of from my experiences. Also, learned behaviors and habits sometimes stick with a person for the rest of their life. Some people handle it better than others, while some people stuff it down deep better than others. And then some people cannot handle it at all.
