I mean seriously, everyone in the fucking world knows that they exist, why do I have to be reminded every 30 minutes? If I'm sitting at home, my instincts aren't to run to the grocery store and pelt fistfuls of cash when I see their commercials. If I go to a restaurant they only carry one or the other so my preferences (which aren't being swayed by some fucking pop bottle falling through a mystical soda dispensor in an action sequence that has to be at least three goddamn minutes long) are irrelevant.

I don't get it.

because other soft drinks are launched practically every day. Just because a company has high market share doesn't mean it should rest on it's laurels.

GM did that, and fell from 49% to < 24% market share, and Ford has fallen so low they've been passed by Toyota and are selling Jaguar and Land Rover to the East Indian manufacturer TATA. Why? They got complacent and sank everything into trucks and SUVs, and very little into engineering new product.

That's a bad example. GM should have advertised because they introduce new models. They need to get the word out about their new products. Coke and Pepsi on the other hand make comercials for just plain old Coke and Pepsi.

What? I'm going to forget that they exist if I'm not bombarded with their commercials? I'm not going to see stacks of Coke cases when I go to the grocery store? I'm not going to have to choose between one or the other when I go to a resturant or concession stand?

Plus, GM and Ford make shitty cars.

I'm actually thinking of buying a Suzuki SX4 and I have never seen a Suzuki advertisement.

It's subliminal messaging, supposedly. You see it so much it becomes burned into your mind, or something.

They should try being more subliminal.

That's a bad example.

It's an example of companies getting complacent about their market share, and not trying as hard. That you feel GM didn't advertise new models enough is irrelevant. GM sold almost half of all vehicles worldwide, and stopped trying to be an industry leader. They just assumed everyone would keep buying whatever they made.

What? I'm going to forget that they exist if I'm not bombarded with their commercials?

yup. New products come out all the time, and people are fickle.
