91lx 08-25-2002, 05:56 AM I was thinking about getting a LS1 til I looked at the price of parts for those things. Most bolt-ons are a little more than most cars, but the block, heads, and power adders are outrageous. Modular engines are pretty high too but I thought SBC parts would be more reasonable. BlueCalx 08-25-2002, 10:59 AM It could be because those engines are somewhat new (compared to say an lt1, ford 5.0, l98, etc) and there aren't as many suppliers or manufacturers of parts for them. Power adders (like SC and Turbos) for the F bodies are about 2/3 the cost of what a SC or turbo is for the LS1 vettes. The ls1 fbody parts are substantially less in cost than the vette parts for some reason... price examples for f body: clutch: ~300 torque converter: 440 procharger w/ gauge pod and fp gauge: 4400 headers + y pipe: 500 to 1200 pretty pricey, yeah.. <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> 08-25-2002, 11:44 AM I can buy whole cars for that lol 91lx 08-26-2002, 02:58 AM Yeah I was talkin about the heads and LS6 intake and cams and pulleys. Thats a pretty cool intake temp adjuster they have out. Impreza75 08-27-2002, 08:03 PM Same reason parts for the 2jz-GTE are so expensive. Bad ass motor, gets a good bit of performance from slight mods. Meaning mods are pricey, but you sure get what you pay for. Cams, Exhaust, pulleys, and throttle body on a 6 speed LS1 and you can have some bragging rights.
