beefhole 03-14-2007, 08:56 PM My time has come to get my wisdom teeth out. Now I have a slight (aka major) problem. I don't have dental under my medical coverage. Does anyone know if this is considered surgery and may not be dental? If it is dental does anyone know what it would cost without coverage? I'm more scared about what I may have to pay. I have to get this done as they are coming in straight, but totally messing up my front, bottom 4 teeth and I am getting worried. :( ComradeGiant 03-14-2007, 09:19 PM Sorry, but its considered dental. And from what I've been told its an expensive procedure. I'm in a similar boat, my bottom teeth are all crooked from my wisdom teeth coming in, but I can't afford to get them out. Animal 03-14-2007, 10:10 PM eh, you know... i think your mouth is one part of your body you really want to take care of. Mouth/tooth problems can make your life miserable, not to mention painful to eat. Do what you need to to get it done, and it's easier both financially and in terms of recovery to do a little prevention before it blows up into a huge issue. ComradeGiant 03-15-2007, 01:44 PM Its really hard for me to decide my priorities when it comes to health. Do I fix my blown knees, so I can walk and work more effectively? Do I fix my back, so I can pick stuff up without it locking up? Or do I fix my teeth, so they aren't crooked and require hours of flossing to get corn kernel skin out? beefhole 03-15-2007, 07:33 PM I called a surgeon today. Shouldn't be too bad. They said it starts at 300 per tooth, 375 if they need to totally knock me out and 95 for an x-ray. I have the money if worse comes to worse. czarofzar 03-17-2007, 10:06 AM or go to Mexico. Maybe you dont want to be knocked out as to keep an eye on your wallet. Manntis 03-20-2007, 03:21 PM Glad I inherited the broad jaw of my Slavic side... I didn't even notice when my wisdom teeth came in. cptinjak 03-20-2007, 10:57 PM stories like this REALLY scare me. i was lucky enough to be young enough that i was under my parents' insurance when i had mine done. but i can just see myself getting punched and knocking a tooth out now, or something similar, and not being able to deal with the payments. *fingers crossed* beefhole 03-21-2007, 07:38 PM I can't imagine the punch that would be required to knock a wisdom tooth out... Anyway this friday all 4 coming out! 1625 dollars later... Manntis 03-22-2007, 12:23 AM A doorknob and four bits of dental floss would be cheaper... ;) MX5Tuner 03-24-2007, 02:36 PM Don't forget about the scripts for Valium and all the other fun stuff they give you..... they gave me more Valiums than I needed for no reason, as it didn't hurt anymore after the second day, but I had puffed out chipmunk cheeks for a week :( that wasn't fun czarofzar 03-25-2007, 04:55 PM Mine were taken out for free. Thx Navy. ford fanatic 03-29-2007, 02:42 PM Good luck Friday, I remember having it done...it sucked! beefhole 03-29-2007, 09:47 PM Did it last Friday ;) The pain was gone by Saturday night. I only took like 4 vicodin, still have 16 left ;) I didn't swell up at all, but I bled pretty bad Friday afternoon. Almost had to puke cause i must have swallowed a lot of blood when I passed out. grassandtreejenvy 04-18-2007, 05:50 PM what you want is the laughing gas. makes it all worth it grassandtreejenvy 04-18-2007, 05:51 PM it could be a little scary though |
