Let's try to keep the Mark bashing to a minimum in this thread...

Anyway, with all these people, so called "experts", clergy, born-again Christians, Catholics, etc, chiming in on how to live and act, if Jesus actually could appear and talk about his teachings, etc, what exactly do you think he would say?

Ever play "telephone" as a kid, where somebody whispers something in your ear, you whisper it to the next person, so on and so forth, and you see what you end up with? Since most of the stories in the Bible started out as oral stories, and the Bible is at least 2000 years old, who thinks Jesus would show up and say, "Um, guys, there's been a few mistakes here"?

Oral tradition is amazing!

Personally, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact the whole thing used to be sung. As a song, that you sing in a large group, it tends to be pretty easy to spot errors when one of your number starts off singing something different.

You can see the same song, spread across Africa, for generations without so much as changing a single word. Even in different dialects, you have the same song. And that isnt even regarded as sacred oral tradition!

. . . Telephone is a lot easier to play when you have everything written down. Specially if you have a couple thousand copies, each copied with the utmost care by people honored to be copying it...knowing that if they screw up one titddle their carrer and social standing is in jepordy.

But verifying the last 2000 years is pretty easy, check the Dead Sea Scrolls! pretty amazing.

No, I want to know what you think Jesus would say about the Bible, his teachings, etc.

Do you think he would agree with the interpretations of his works?

No, that's not what I'm asking Mark. I'm asking, to whom would Jesus point at and say, "Yep, he's right", or "No, he's wrong"? Take you, for example. You claim the Catholic church is a sect that is completely off base, they are all going to hell... Would Jesus have your back?

I'm pretty sure Jesus would have Mark's back in a lot of things.

But, as all men, not all the things he has done will He exalt.

I'm sure not even Mark would say ALL Catholics are going to hell, but he is correctly preaching that the Catholic SYSTEM is what leads to damnation and seperation from God.

I'm pretty sure there are saved Catholics out there.

If you can't determine my answer from what I posted, I donno how to help you :P

Basically, I'm saying the scripture that is the best selling book of all time is 100% true.

So, he will exault those who are humbled, and humble those who are exaulted.

Heh-heh...

And you wanted to keep the Mark-bashing to a minimum in hopes that you could actually have a RATIONAL discussion with him?!

:lmao:
