Rules of the game:

1. Name your current career
2. If you are in school for something but have a job not in your field - name what you are studying.
3. Name what you would do if you suddenly could not get a job in your current career field.

For example, I'll go first:

I'm currently an Intern computer programmer. I go to school at ITT Technical Institute for a degree in programming. I guess if I had to do something else, I would be a plastic surgeon. Not just "boob jobs" (though that would be nice :smoker: ). It would be kinda cool to do like facial stuff and help people that have been deformed. It's just something else I think I could enjoy doing.

Al'right, your turn!

Mechanical engineering student probably going into thermal fluids, eyeing aeronautical fields. First choice: Scaled Composites in Mojave, Ca (builders of space ship one: the first commercially funded spacecraft)

Second choice: Columbia Aircraft in Bend, OR who just hired one of our graduates.

Airplanes rule.

1. Name your current career
- Intern in Retail Management

2. If you are in school for something but have a job not in your field - name what you are studying.
- College Senior, majoring in Business Information Management & Systems

3. Name what you would do if you suddenly could not get a job in your current career field.
- I'd probably open up another location for my parents business. We own a framing/art gallery in Columbia, SC.

Bread truck driver.

If I suddenly lost my job I think I would like to buy a small coffee shop in a mountain town and spend my free time fly fishing small lakes.

My present Career is "Environmental Emergency Response Coodinator" for PA DEP

I've started making Neck-Through Electric guitars and solid wood speaker cabinets in my basement wood shop.... I'd REALLY like that to take off cause I'm REALLY tired of pulling on-call rotations and dealing with deisel fuel spills and HAZMAT fires at 2 am....

1) Not sure right now. I was hired on to do electronics assembly, testing, some R&D, and computer work. I've spent most of my time machining parts and it sucks. I wish I was doing electronics work, since that's what i'm going to school for....
2) Ex-U of Wyoming (Go Cowboys!), now at ITT studying Electrical Engineering Tech or whatever they call it. ITT's more expensive than a year at UW, and they're teaching me stuff I already know.:dunno:
3) Hmm... I like doing electronics work, that's why I'm still doing it. But if I had to choose another job... probably porn editor/cameraman, maybe pro bullrider, or perhaps someone who gets paid to fuck around on IRC all day (haven't found that job yet).

You do realize that you can "Test Out" of a class, right?!? Seriously, I got out of my C++ II class that way. I took the C++ I class then studied really hard and took the C++ II test. I got a passing grade, so they gave me the credit, and the best part was that I didn't have to pay for the test OR the class!

Yeah, and the test-out exam for the english class is to write a 3-pg research paper in under 4 hours. I'm good, but I think that's virtually impossible, even with google.

The intro-to-computers class was nothing about computers- that test asked weird-ass questions that aren't commonly known, and they're only in the book.

It's bullshit, I tell you. Just like the apartment managers here.

Just remember when you get to the "Intro to computer programming" class that there are 1440 twips in 1 inch. lol:banghead: Now that's something that everyone should know.

Ok, I know I'm late as hell to this thread, but....

Bread truck driver.

How exactly does that profession work out? :dunno:

As for myself, I don't really have a "career" just yet, but I'm in my second year at my current Gov Contract job and things are going pretty well...

If I could have a 2nd choice, I'd probably go with video game design or comp graphics... To be more realistic, Law....
