Say No To Pistons 09-04-2007, 10:18 PM So yeah, i decided to try shaving my facial hair for the first time (around my upper lip and chin since it's starting to grow somewhat thick short hairs). I grab an electric shaver and started going at it, well it didn't work really work. I had to move the electric shaver around the spot at different angles for maybe 5 minutes to get all the hair shaved? And then i decided to press the shaver down a little against my skin... Yeah now i'm done and i got this insane burning sensation around my upper lip and i can see little pores start to bleed.. OK? So i dabbed some lotion on my face and that burnt like hell. What am i do wrong? R281 09-04-2007, 10:21 PM Try a razor next time and shave slowly. wonner 09-04-2007, 10:44 PM Aaw, our little boy is becoming a man... wotnartd 09-04-2007, 10:47 PM You just tore every hair from your face, way to go. Try a razor, and if you do decide electric is what you want, make sure it's got plenty of juice and the blades are sharp. I like the razor, myself. It's fast, too. And the new shaving creams moisturize and everything for you. Queen 09-04-2007, 10:54 PM fresh razor, lots of hot lather yes, i'm an expert face shaver Say No To Pistons 09-04-2007, 11:19 PM ^ You can shave my face anytime. Eatmyclutch 09-04-2007, 11:36 PM Try shaving while you're on shrooms:crazy: rodney87 09-04-2007, 11:46 PM Brings back memories of the first time I shaved, sucks not having any older males to let you know how its done :blah: aznpoopy 09-05-2007, 12:07 AM alright you're asian, so take advice from another asian #1 get yourself a razor, unless you enjoy stubble remnant from shitty electric razors #2 if you're a pussy use shaving cream and go smooth and gently #3 if you're a man just shave it dry with the razor, or do it with water only in the shower. we're asian. skin is smooth, cream/lather/etc is totally optional. i've been doing it dry for like 10 years 95whitepep 09-05-2007, 12:13 AM Gdhsf Supper 09-05-2007, 12:35 AM Gdhsf plus motherfuckin 1 wotnartd 09-05-2007, 12:51 AM Brings back memories of the first time I shaved, sucks not having any older males to let you know how its done :blah: My dad uses electric, I use razor. My face is anything but smooth, but I don't even get stubble, it's just rough skin. I'm almost 21 and I shave every two or three days, and that's only because I will not wear a beard net at work. I have to wear a hair net, fuck a beard net. rx-7_Z06 09-05-2007, 02:46 AM I went electric and never looked back. Its a helluva lot cheaper than buying razors. Say No To Pistons 09-05-2007, 05:12 AM WHat if you have a zit? Like a zit pops out of fucking no where over night, you wake up all woozy and you start shaving... Bam! Tofuball 09-05-2007, 05:50 AM I went electric and never looked back. Its a helluva lot cheaper than buying razors. Do tell what kind of electric you use, every time I've tried on it's been woefully inadequate. . . . then again my hairs are thick like tree trunks, one razor will get dull about 1/2 or 2/3 of the way around my face. 95whitepep 09-05-2007, 08:51 AM WHat if you have a zit? Like a zit pops out of fucking no where over night, you wake up all woozy and you start shaving... Bam! Want some cheese with that whine? Jeez call whine11. Suck it up and be a man baby face, JC you have no idea what woozy is when your getting to work with a hangover and want to puke all the way to work. (yes 8+ hours a day with people you hate, and bitches you can stand to look at.) Supper 09-05-2007, 08:59 AM Do tell what kind of electric you use, every time I've tried on it's been woefully inadequate.the best electric I've found yet is the REmington Titanium something or other. Its loud as shit, but man does it cut through the hairs quick. The trick, if you've let it grow pretty long, is to use a beard trimmer and cut it down as short as you can in the night and then shave the next morning. Otherwise it just tears your face up pretty hard. . . . then again my hairs are thick like tree trunks, one razor will get dull about 1/2 or 2/3 of the way around my face. the only un-charged rayzor I've ever used that could do a complete shave job for me was one of the old style safety razors, after a hot shower doing almost the whole wetshave technique. But, I don't bother with that anymore. Haven't shaved in over a month now, just keep it trimmed about once a week with the trusty beard trimmer. Slowly step out the lengths to try and keep it even instead of getting a jihad beard again. and SNTP, quityerbitchin and do a websearch, or go become a forum whore here: http://www.badgerandblade.com/ those guys know what they are talking about when it comes to getting a smooth shave. edit: +1 to saying wait till you try shaving hung over/still drunk at 5am before work, or dry shaving with a two/three day growth at work with a three month old disposable razor while hung over before you start bitching about a zit. A little blood never hurt anybody. Tofuball 09-05-2007, 09:16 AM You mean this thing (http://www.amazon.com/Remington-MS3-1700-Titanium-MicroScreen-Rechargeable/dp/B0000C88FD)? SNTP, listen, first off Go get a a triple edge blade made for a man. It needs to be sharp........but only after your beard starts getting really thick. When you first start shaving a dull razor will work fine. Second, when you are young, a Shaving cream will actually help with the acne issues. When you do you ever wahs your face now?? never?? OK, the foamy shaving cream will help. If you have a Zit just shave around it, but only if it is a big lunker. If it just a bump nothing is going to happen. It won't shave off despite rumors. don't pop the Zit first.....Shave first and then work on the Zit. And Lastly, Shave prior to getting in the shower, the water will rinse and heal your face. If you continue to have drying issues or burning issues, Use hand cream instead of shaving cream. Something with Aloe is nice. Stay away from those cheap ass electric shavers, they suck and they take for ever. I can spread cream on my face and scrape it off with a razor in about 2 minutes time. Manntis 09-05-2007, 05:41 PM It's actually better to shave after your shower, not before. Less razor burn that way. Less razor burn that way. for some. I don't like the residue that Shaving creams leave behind. To me they are the source of burning and drying. Even now that I use Hand cream, I really have to rinse like crazy to get the residue off. jhammons01 09-05-2007, 06:12 PM http://www.theforumlounge.com/showthread.php?t=7081&highlight=shave where is Sir Rupert Hobo anyway? What am i do wrong? Sounds like the hairs were too long when you shaved. If you want to use an electric shaver, use the mustache trimmer first to cut then down, then shave as normal. The burning sensation will go away after you do it more regularly, just don't press so hard as to the point where you're breaking skin. 2ndGen.Rocket 09-06-2007, 11:07 PM I've always found electrics to be too rough, and they also don't shave that close. I'm using that Gillette Fusion, and use Nivea shaving cream. I was my face in the shower, then get some hot water running in the sink. Cover your face in hot water, lather up, then run the razor under hot water and shave slowly. Smooth as butter. rx-7_Z06 09-07-2007, 03:07 AM I've been contemplating going back to a real razor, but I like what I have going with my electric. Its a Panasonic that they stopped making a couple years ago. I'm 23 and just not that hairy so electric works fine for me. wotnartd 09-07-2007, 06:15 AM Not that this matters much, but I remember reading somethign about how it takes time for your face to adjust to electric, because it has to train the follicles, whereas when you use a razor, you just go with the flow. Tofuball 09-07-2007, 07:17 AM I've always found electrics to be too rough, and they also don't shave that close. I'm using that Gillette Fusion, and use Nivea shaving cream. Yeh, it's hard to beat wet shaving, electrics wont come close. Supper 09-07-2007, 09:20 AM When I had to shave for work, the electric was the ticket. Sure it didn't get it smooth as a babys butt, who cares though? You could just grab the razor, take 2 or 3 minutes to shave, jump in the truck and get to work. Much easier then wasting a half hour to do a wet shave job. Now whenever I do actually shave, I generally still use the electrics. My goal right now is to not shave at least until the end of the year. Probably going to try and make it all the way till the end of the spring semester. aznpoopy 09-07-2007, 09:46 AM half hour? holy shit i do my dry razor job in about 30 seconds Vert8813B 09-07-2007, 09:47 AM takes me about 3 minutes. 2ndGen.Rocket 09-07-2007, 09:50 AM half hour? holy shit i do my dry razor job in about 30 seconds You just shave your face dry with a blade? Jesus. that would leave me a bloody mess. SpartanTS 09-07-2007, 09:56 AM I use a Norelco Advantage that squirts nivea shaving lotion. It took 2 weeks to get used to but i've had it about a year now and I love it. I hated using blade razors. I was using a Gillette fusion for a while and after spending $25 on blades a few times, I knew it was time to make an investment in an electric razor. It's easily paid for itself. aznpoopy 09-07-2007, 10:03 AM You just shave your face dry with a blade?
