Just wondering if the site is legit... seems like it... BUT the red flag is here:
I'm looking at ordering an edge programmer for a vehicle, edge's MSRP is $500, summitracing.com has it for about $450, and the site has it for $350 + $10 shipping.
Just wonder if osborne or any of you other 4x4 or truck guys have ever heard of this site... thanks.
Have you looked at the Hypertech programmers? I think they cost less, but do about the same things. You know, change rev limiter, adjust shift points, adjust for aftermarket gears, reads and clears DTCs, increase hp and torque etc.
Well found it on www.discountpowerparts.com + www.autoanything.com too... I saw 2 posts on a f150 forum saying people had ordered from both sites.
Yeah r281, we looked at x-cal2's, hypertechs, and the edge... For not too much more the edge has a lot of real-time data output with the pod... kind of like free digital gauges for monitoring all kinds of things. I have a friend that put an edge on his 24v cummins and i like it... of course he got 10x the power i'd ever get, but i'm looking for gas mileage tuning, play-tuning, and being able to adjust whatever i wish... looks like a sweet setup... i'd rather pay more and get the absolute best... and i feel the edge has earned that over the hypertech/xcal with the real-time data output and dashboard pod.
Sounds way better. Maybe I should look into getting one.
My hypertech drops my quater mile times by about 3 tenths of a second now and increases my trap speed (not sure by how much). That's not bad for $200-$300.00 mod on a non-boosted car I guess.
I wonder how it would do with an Edge.
I'll put 30,000k on my vehicle in the next year at minimum... the monitoring piece is important to me, and 1 mpg gain (at least) will pay for this for me in a year easily. There's like 14 things the "PCM" (stock computer??) monitors and the edge can be set to view up to any 4 of those at once... plus all the other things it calculates... 0-60, mpg, etc. Being able to monitor temperatures and set it to alarm me if something is reached could save quite a bit of money. Reads the obd/ii codes too... You can adjust everything odometer/speedometer if you were to get larger tires on your truck/suv, etc... looks all around like a bad ass tool for tuning/monitoring what's going on. The little pod is pretty slick too... looks almost factory the way it fits in. I'll probably order mine from 1 of the 3 sites above tomorrow.
Animal 03-07-2007, 09:47 PM I've looked at those before, would *love* to put one on my truck.
I just don't have funds available right now. :-\
SpartanTS 03-07-2007, 10:19 PM I see some parts that I wouldn't mind getting for my Expo on autoanything.com
Please give us a review after you have had a chance to play with it.

Holy fuck, I put 22,000 miles on over the summer...
Ordered it today. I've got a good friend inside of Advance Auto Corporate. Apparently they sell the edge tuners too, so he made some calls and had them pricematch it for me and it's being shipped to a local store for me to pick up. Pretty sweet, that way I can return it if there's something wrong and don't have to worry about ordering from an unknown source.
Got him to hook me up with a sweet ass deal on a bolt-on dynomax catback $142 with his discount. I'm looking around at intakes, haven't decided yet... but that's probably all i'll do performance wise. I already have all synthetic fluids (tranmission, differentials, transfer case, oil will get it next change) and I'm getting 15.5-16 mpg... much higher than the average person with a 5.4L. I'm confident that the tuner, intake, and cat-back will yield me 2 mpg... if not, still fun toys.... good bang for buck.
I'll post pics of the install when it's done if you guys want and give my .02.
rtryb2200 03-09-2007, 01:10 PM I will say I added a hypertech, new exhaust and a voolant intake on my old truck and it made a world of difference. Biggest thing for me was the exhaust the stock muffler was dual in single out, changing it to dual out was well worth it. I don't think I would go with the voolant intake again, high price and not much different from stock, at least with my application.
ebay intake pipe for your vehicle with pre-drilled, pre-holed for your vehicle's emission shit = $30, throw the filter away that comes with it.
k&n filter = $30-$40.
$70 vs $280-$300+
Same thing as the k&n FIPK for 1/4 the price = smart.
Same thing with the catback, the bolt on "kit" was like $240... my friend looked up the 3-4 individual part #'s and it was $140. May need to spend $10 on clamps.... but side by side, SAME exact thing down to the individual part numbers.
Mod smart. =]

You know how we feel about pics.
How much did you end up paying for the edge? Are they model/year specific, like hypertech, or can they be used on a variety of vehilces?
$350 shipped to my local AAP... They are specific to year model because of the unique dash pod... however, they pretty much make them for anything worth having it on, gasoline + diesel...
I have pics of what it's going on, nothing special, don't wanna bore you... I'll get pics of the pod when it's installed though... should be here next week. I'm going to load it up, leave stock shift points probably, and use the mpg tune and see if i get any better mpg... then i'll add the other stuff along with it. Installation shouldn't take 10 minutes.... hopefully :D
*looks at watch*
So what's the word?
