RC Rock Crawlers. :rawk:
Its pretty fun thing to get into, just about finished with this build so I can start running it.
AmishBoy 04-17-2007, 11:23 AM YES
All of the RC builder stuff is awesome! Rock Crawlers = FTW!
Animal 04-17-2007, 06:35 PM suh-weeeet. I might have to see this thing... maybe this weekend
95whitepep 04-17-2007, 07:01 PM I've always wanted to build one......
Whats a good start RC for a novice?

If you really want to get into the rock crawler thing, PM me. I have a whole toolbox of parts I would be willing to sell to you that includes a chassis. You would just have to find a set of axles and miscelaneous electronics.
wotnartd 04-17-2007, 07:30 PM Fuckin awesome. Nuff said.
I like RC stuff. Thinking about a helicopter, but they're pricey...

There's a company out in the mountains that does aerial photography with 'em. They have a little digicam mounted on some servos under an RC heli... because of size and remote operation they can do some insane stuff with it that you'd never be able to do with a real heli or airplane.
$100T2 04-17-2007, 09:25 PM That's awesome!
I think my next hobby is going to be a 1/100th scale battleship... We have some good size ponds and lakes around here, I'd like to tear around them with an 8 foot long remote control battleship.

I remember burning model ships as I push them out into the lake. And when the fire hit the M-80 I hid inside....POW! WOOOTYA!
Guliver 04-18-2007, 10:43 PM Think of all the shenanigans that could be done with one of those
Hades12 04-19-2007, 08:34 AM No Nitro, No care.

hah! Lets see you build a nitro crawler and get it to do a single run without blowing up.

These guys have pellet guns mounted on the ships and have actual battles. How cool is that?
beefhole 04-20-2007, 09:09 PM Don't get me thinking of RC again. I was addicted to that stuff from age 10 to about 16-17. They can get damned expensive but they were FUN. Ever look at the 1/10 Monster trucks?
$100T2 04-20-2007, 09:16 PM My son got an RX-8 RC car for his birthday. He can make it go backwards and forwards, but that's it. The thing actually has decent enough power that I can make it do doughnuts on the kitchen floor. It reminded me how much fun RC stuff was.
I want a boat, but I also want a helicopter.

If I got a boat I'd just spend my days trying to catch a squirrel to teach how to waterski....
Supper 04-22-2007, 09:32 AM Animal came up yesterday and helped me get all the electronics up and running:

everything finally came together right so we took it out and played with it a bit:

If you look close at this pic, you will see the front tires about to hit the ground. I tried to come off the top of that rock and pull it out, well... it didn't work and wound up flipping on to its top. Animal just happened to snap this pic at just the right time:

Supper 04-23-2007, 08:26 AM What'd you pay for (all) that shit?
I tried not to keep track of it.
CocoPuffIt 04-23-2007, 08:36 AM Wow, I want one of those! That thing is freaking awesome....
rx-7_Z06 04-24-2007, 12:10 AM Thats fucking cool. I might need to get into some RC shit. I have the perfect place to set up courses too.
CocoPuffIt 04-24-2007, 06:35 PM Yeah I checked into them, they have one that's insane, over a G, plus I'd have to get it shipped to the UK.
Hmmmmmmmm.
Time to bribe the other half I think.....
Terrh 04-25-2007, 09:22 PM those people with the boats (adn boat battles)... do they have a website?
that seems cool, and like something I could get into.
when I was little me and my brother made tinfoil boats and had pellet gun battles trying to sink eachothers ship...
