I am the Sales Manager for Zeal Engineering, the creators of the Zeal Engineering MegaSquirt (ZEMS).
This group buy is for the pre-order of first ten S4 ZEMS units. We produce S5 units, but they are not for sale at this time. First come, first serve. The way this is going to work is you post in the thread; tell us if your car is S4 N/A or S4 TII, and I will PM you the PayPal address to send the money too. After three days if no payment is received, your 'slot' is no longer reserved and is given to the next person in line.
You will be able to pre-order by putting down at least $40 or more of the total $450. Yes, for a limited first production run of the first TEN, we are going to make the price per unit only $450.
The first run will most likely be shipped around the end of May.
Future units will most likely be around $525 minimum with extras available for an additional price.
For those of you who don’t know, the ZEMS is a complete standalone Engine Management System, it controls leading spark (12x12 table) trailing spark
(6x6 table) and fuel (two 12x12 Volumetric Efficiency tables, one 8x8 desired AFR table), you can move the tuning bins to wherever you wish, and the MegaSquirt supports auto-tuning with the use of a wideband o2 sensor (it will automatically update maps to match your desired air/fuel ratio with this feature turned on). It supports closed loop at all times with a wideband and on cruise with a narrowband. It is fully customizable and upgradeable as the code and hardware is open source. Currently, I am using the unit on my daily driven S5 convertible, and it is controlling my AUX and VDI, as well as my electric fans. There are too many features to list here, including N2O control, launch control, WBO2 support, data logging, over-rev protection, over-boost protection, and much much more. This unit will allow you to entirely replace your stock ECU. The ZEMS allows you to hold your foot down on the gas for "Flood Clear" mode (to de-flood your engine using just the throttle). You can throw away such things as your stock AFM, MAP, OMP, rats nest, etc. It automatically disables the AWS and since you are removing the stock ECU, you will not have a fuel cut (unless you set the MegaSquirt to have one) Please mail us your stock ECU once you replace it, as we need them to provide you with the lowest price possible.
Just plug it in, tune it, and drive!
You will need to run the vacuum line that previously went to your MAP sensor to the MegaSquirt unit. (Instructions included)
Included in the one time only ZEMS promotional package is:
- The Zeal Engineering Plug and Play MegaSquirt configured for an RX-7
- The Plug and Play Adaptor for your wiring harness (S4 only for this set of orders)
- A CD with some of the open source software you will need, and illustrated instructions on how to install the unit.

This is a non refundable deposit and there are no returns. Full is payment due before shipment. Before each unit is shipped, it is thoroughly tested and then actually used to run a test car. Each unit includes a conservative base map. This product is for off-road use only, as it tampers with/replaces/allows control of emissions control unit(s).
